Last I heard, people were saying his stomach was visibly distended before death and there was speculation that he had swallowed and died from a bottle someone threw into his enclosure. :(

Imagine if this were to happen to the fattest human alive.

"We want his/her body to be preserved and displayed in a museum so that people can continue to marvel at his/her massive size."

The crocodile, estimated to be more than 50 years old, was blamed for a few brutal deaths of villagers before Bunawan folk came to love it.

Ain't that always the way of things?

Never knew "salties" existed in the Philippines, let alone fark-off big salties that were bigger than Australian salties.

Save me Googling.... anyone know if Nile, Aussie, and Philippines crocodiles are the same species of salty, aka "estuarine crocodile"?

As a Marine Biologist, I got as far as the terms "saltwater crocodile," "captive," "eco-pond" and "bloated".

I don't need to wait for the autopsy results to know cause of death..

/RIP, you magnificent beast..

Sliding back into obscurity. LO-farkin'-L.

How about they have a "Being Eaten By A Crocodile" contest.

I predict a low budget feel-good movie will be made about this and shown at several film festivals before fading back into obscurity.

This is one way you know your town is insignificant, if they preserve a large animal and openly admit to it.

Nile Crocodiles are a completely different species and are endemic to sub-Saharan Africa and Madagascar.  Aussie/Estuarine Crocodiles range from Eastern India through the South Pacific, including the Phillipines, but are probably most commonly associated with Australia.
