I'm still waiting for a logical explanation of how the police actions in CA are anything less than attempted murder.  I'm all for Dorner taking a bullet, but the police in these last two incidents weren't shooting at Dorner.  In fact, they didn't know WHO they were shooting at.  Their goal was to kill the people in the vehicles, regardless of actual identity.

Reminds me of how the Iraqi "police" handled things.

Nah, they're prepared for that.  That's a typical criminal who they'd probably find due to his lack of planning.  This is a man who went to war and is prepared.  This is not something they're ready for, they've had every police agency looking for him, they had the NG looking in Big Bear, they used drones with FLIR, ect.  Some of us tried to tell people that before in threads on another topic.  Here is a practical example.

It's possible. I find it unlikely though, since the police know and have accounted for any vehicles he had legally. If he had an illegal vehicle, why was he driving the truck that everyone was looking for?

And don't forget the fiasco where he tried to steal the boat in San Diego. If he had an escape plan that involved heading through San Diego, it's unlikely he'd also have a vehicle 3-4 hours away in Big Bear.

The San Diego thing confuses me, I tend to think it's either not true or a decoy.  Even if it was his original plan he probably had back up plans with back up plans.  I think he's in LA area still laying low waiting till the LAPD lower their guard and then attacks again causing even more panic.  I may be giving him more credit than he deserves....

Wouldn't count on that. Payouts are often surprisingly small when the cops are involved. I was the victim of a case of mistaken-identity-by-police. For an injury that left me with a permanent disability, I was given 20k. Small compensation for having to give up my career dreams.

Hard to tell, and it really depends on how serious he is. If he's going full throttle on his little counter insurgency campaign, then it makes total sense for him to lay low for a few days while the various police departments run themselves ragged doing overtime and chasing down every small lead. They've got literally hundreds of officers just pulling guard duty for the LAPD brass. Their schedules are not designed for this.

As soon as everyone's frazzled and ready to ease off a bit, bang - hit a target that they weren't expecting. Kick the whole thing back into high gear. All the while, the public is increasingly convinced that the cops are a bunch of incompetent bullies.
