I clicked the link expecting to find that O'Reilly or Hannity had gone on the offensive against "anchor babies" or gay adoption and used a photo of a 4 week old baby to illustrate their point.

I don't know whether to be thankful or disappointed.

Urban foxes are a "growing problem" because people are eradicating woodlands to put in subdivisions and strip malls. Where else do they have to go? Humans that are calling for them to be culled should be culled instead.

I saw a fox while drunkenly stumbling back from the pub with my friends when we went to London. It hopped a fence in front of us. I thought it was a largish cat until I saw its tail. I said "Did you guys see that fox?" and they all laughed at me because "We're in the middle of the city." Then it came back over the fence and startled my drunk friends.

That fox had my back. I hope he's not the one who did this.

Easy. YOU LEFT OPEN A HOLE IN YOUR HOUSE BIG ENOUGH TO GET THROUGH

I despise fox-hunting, and those that support it, but i'm not blind enough to realise they are a problem, and need to be controlled. It doesn't help that some townies think they're cute, so feed them scraps, bringing them and their families and succeeding generations into the towns. Couple this with urban sprawl encroaching on their established territories, and it's easy to see why there's so many of the buggers ripping open my bin bags every bloody night. It's horrific that this happened, but listening to the BBC interviewing the locals earlier, the numbers of foxes in that area is alarming. A little fearing the worst goes a long way

2013-02-10 04:22:12 PM
I'm quite happy to have a family of foxes living in the weedy field 200' from my porch, but then again I don't have any wee bairns lying about and my creampuff of a cat knew enough to stay within 20' of the porch unless I was with her. Foxes are beautiful critters.

Also, dat ass...

I realize fark isn't about knowing things or intelligence, it's about reacting to other people's experiences while doing nothing. But did anyone read the article? I guess this explains why us atheists are so much better. We don't have to read or know things to have venomous opinions.

Mystery Vortex: Urban foxes are a "growing problem" because people are eradicating woodlands to put in subdivisions and strip malls. Where else do they have to go? Humans that are calling for them to be culled should be culled instead.

clane:
Geez you liberals and your broken record. The truth is the fox population is completely out of control since left wing liberal anti-hunting anti-gun cowards outlawed fox hunting. Another sad result is the natural population of Red & Black Grouse, Grey Partridge, Blue Hare, Brown Hare, Lapwing and Curlew was prevalent in North East they are now a rarer sight, on the same note the fox are reaching record breaking sizes.

Why is it when a dog or cat or person attacks a baby in their home, it is the parent's fault for not looking after them, but when it is a fox they say it's the fox's fault.

Foxes are pretty awesome.  We've got a slew of 'em here, too.  I'm lucky enough to live in a place where wildlife essentially comes up to my door--literally.  There's an abundance of red-tailed hawks hereabouts, too, and a few years ago, some of them decided to set up light housekeeping and raise families in several trees in and near my family's yard.  They apparently liked us, but they were absolute murder on strangers, which worked out since we also had a major problem with prowlers at the time.  With us, they were comfortable enough to settle down on fence posts and watch us as we worked outside.  But every time someone new entered their territory, they'd start out by flying low and slow over the newcomer to get a good look and start screeching, and they'd get lower, slower and louder, buzzing them until we came out or they finally left.  I have no idea if they'd actually attack or not, but they came within arm's reach of  several very unpleasant people.  It was awesome.  Beautiful creatures, too.
