Too bad I was not allowed to watch this show as a kid at first, but later on that rule relaxed. Good episodes, but disappointed they did not include the storybook one with the Sandman.

Damn...now I have to pop an episode in. That, and Eerie Indiana are my happy days of childhood tv that weren't any cartoons.

It also taught you not to be inside a mall that doubles as a pinball machine.

Kinda hard to rip off something, when it came on before Goosebumps books were ever written, isn't it?

Except that the first Goosebumps was published the year after Are You Afraid of the Dark? premiered.

Y'know, I had a conversation with friends the other day on what the first "grown-ups" TV show(s) we each got into first as kids and I couldn't for the life of me recall what it was for me, if any... Until now.

I need to add that to my Netflix Instant Queue; revisit old memories.

I'm from slightly before that, in the late 80s, and didn't have cable, but Friday night was indeed fright night - War of the Worlds, followed by Friday the 13th the Series, followed by Freddie's Nightmares, followed by G.L.O.W.

That last one was the scariest thing ever.

Wh..what?  I'm not sure I understand how that relates to all the preceding posts?  Is this a reference I'm not getting?

If you get FearNet, Eerie, Indiana comes on weekend mornings.  They're showing the remake "The Other Dimension" right now, so I'm waiting for that to wrap up so I can see the whole thing from the beginning.

Dr. Whoof: Friday the 13th the Series

I remember staying up until midnight to watch that show when I was only 6-years-old XD

Dr. Whoof: Freddie's Nightmares

Hooolllyyy shiat.  I was starting to think I was the last person on the planet that remember that.  I really wish they'd release the entire series on DVD.  I bring it up when Nightmare on Elm Street comes up every now and again and people look at me like I have a dick growing out of my forehead.

That was probably a good idea, I remember repeating some of  the lines in kindergarden and all hell broke loose.  There was an episode about human organs on a pizza and well.... yeah

/Also @Dr. Whoof I loved the War of the Worlds series xD

I was 8-9 during most of them. The episode I remember best was the Sandman episode where a girl gets sucked under her bed and it is like a storytale. Too lazy to see if it is floating under the internet but maybe I will check it soon.

It was a stupid episode, apparently to the writers of Are You Afraid of the Dark, a medieval fantasy RPG = Pinball. Hell, an actual pinball didn't even show up till the end of the episode. The premise was stupid too, "You played my pinball machine when I told you not to, now I will get my revenge by having you stuck inside this mall... errr, my pinball machine, yes that's it... FOREVER! AAAAAH HA HA HA!!!
