FTFA: The two fundraisers explained that McConnell has several times lamented that, in the last two elections, weaker and unelectable Tea Party candidates have been winning more GOP primary battles, often with hefty financing from right-leaning groups like the Club for Growth. In some cases, the weaker candidates have also been backed by Democratic groups seeking to boost their own party's prospects in the fall elections.

Wow, looks like some people in my party finally got over their pants-wetting fear of all things Machiavellian.  This just made me a little prouder to be a Democrat.

2016 is going to be a riot when all the 2010 Senate Tea Baggers are up for reelection.  We'll get establishment GOP vs. Teabaggers all over the country, and it will all play out in the GOP Presidential Primaries as well.  We'll get to watch them tear each other to pieces all over the country.

Read the first 11 words in paragraph 7.  Skip the rest.  This is all you need to take from this unnecessarily long article.

Okay fine, I'll spare you the click and the trouble of scrolling:

"This year McConnell's own reelection bid in Kentucky may be threatened..."

Now you know why turtle man has an eff to give about Rove's super PAC vs. The Tea Baggers.

Just have to survive 2014, which is kind of a toss-up at the moment.

It's a strong year for Republicans to pick up seats, but they seem to be obliged to shoot themselves in the foot.  If this anti-Tea Party initiative backfires and gets the far-right motivated for the primaries, it may save the Democrats yet another election cycle where they start off vulnerable and end up winning thanks to the extreme base motivating the moderates and liberals to actually GOTV in an off-cycle.

I think it's all just chest-pounding until a) Karl Rove raise a ton of money on this new promise, and b) we see him *actually* funnel that money into races in to defeat Tea Baggers. I believe it when I see it...

LOL. You don't know anything about her yet.

Know this. Rove and his big money backers like Adelson are already running attack ads against her and she hasn't even decided to run yet. They obviously consider her a serious challenger even if you don't.

My biggest takeaway from this article was the borderline incestuous relationship between the 3 Super PACs, Mitch McConnell, his protege and former CoS Steven Law and Karl "math Republicans tells themselves to feel better" Rove.

It certainly helps explain Mitch's outright zeal in doing everything he could to keep Super PAC donors anonymous and making the political system even more dependent on big money donations.

In Kentucky, hell yeah he'll win against an anti-coal Hollywood liberal with a degree in French. I suspect her interest in running will last about as long as Caroline Kennedy's, once she's done an interview or two about it. She's got name recognition, but I don't think that'll be enough. The only reason Rove and company are trying to stop her campaign before it begins is because her name recognition would draw national attention and national funding to the race, and they'd rather not have to funnel money of their own into it.

I dunno.  She does have the name recognition, and she can get the funding.

If I had to make a prediction, I'd put my money on "Will do better than most, may even do better than just about anyone else the Dems can get, but still won't quite be enough to unseat Mitch."  It'll be a heck of a race to watch if she runs, though.
