Suprenant "failed to slow or stop" at the stop sign, FHP said, and continued forward as though the road was there, plowing onto the dirt shoulder of Sheffey Lane and hitting the two trees. He was ejected, nearly all his bones broken, his heart severed, spinal cord severed, his body on fire, his left arm with a tattoo of "bad luck" found by a fence.

'Tis a flesh wound!

"This is absurd," said Shannon Ray, 44, one of the homeowners being sued.

My sentiments exactly. Yet another case of someone trying to wiggle out of personal responsibility when another acts lethally stupid.

Lawyers who file such suits should be forced to pay the defendants double any legal costs the defendants incurred because of the suit. Then they should be disbarred.

man and a woman fled from a crime scene . . . speeding . . . both with cocaine and other drugs in their systems

Why not sue Pontiac for making such shiatty cars?

Clearly it was a problem with the braking system.

I ingested cardboard when I last ate some hot pockets, I'm suing them for putting them in a cardboard box and not explicitly saying its not part of the meal.

Story gets interesting and derpy if you read it.

The mother of the dead woman didn't file the lawsuit.. Her daughter who's in jail did.

She said Julien's daughter, Ashley Julien, who lives in Florida, was the one who dealt with the lawsuit.

Ashley Julien was not able to be interviewed because she has been incarcerated in the Polk County jail since Dec. 5 on charges of failing to appear in court, violating her drug probation and resisting an officer. The Polk County Sheriff's Office does not allow jailhouse interviews.

That right there says quite a bit. She's bored and will need drug money when she gets outta the clink.

Also, FTFA: Both had cocaine in their systems, their autopsies state. Suprenant also had methadone and oxycodone. Julien had methamphetamine and opiates.

Plaintiff can quit her farkin' whining. Dear ol' mom didn't feel a thing. Any experienced druggie would hit those opiates until they couldn't feel anything.

/gives new meaning to "comfortably numb"

One of my favorites was something Johnny Carson read on the Tonight Show way back in the day, when going through a collection of humorous accident statements someone had assembled: "An invisible car appeared out of nowhere, hit my vehicle, then disappeared."

FTFA:
The neighbors couldn't shake the haunting images of that night and those strangers. Even now, years later, they try not to walk there, as it feels as if they are stepping on graves.

I would deliberately take my dog over there to take a crap EVERY DAY.

I would also the sue the residual estate (sure to be none) of both occupants of the car for damage to my tree, and also for the emotional distress cause by having people die on my property.

The entire families of both occupants should be euthanized.

That entire story is a very depressing read.

And there was no warning to drivers that there were trees on the side of a private road.

Yeah, don't those stupid landowners know they should have posted these every 500ft?

Here's a thought: Your relative was in a car with a drunk fleeing the scene. Sue the drunks family, not the people who had nothing to do with it.

Better yet, don't sue anyone. Accept the fact your relative made poor choices.

If it was cheap enough, I'd rent two copies just due to the high probability that one would stop playing from a scratch.

Ah, squeezing rental movies on an exposed plastic platter. What a mind-numbingly stupid thing to do. I guess they saw the success of CDs, and forgot to notice that people usually buy CDs and can take care of them.

So we have:

- fleeing the scene of a crime
- no valid drivers license
- speeding
- driving under the influence of several illegal drugs
- blowing through a stop sign in an unfamiliar area

How the hell could they NOT draw the attention of Darwin? Just glad that they managed to kill themselves without taking any innocents along with them. Now we just need the trailer-trash sister and shyster lawyer to join them.

/although i do kinda feel sorry for the tree

IMHO:

1) shoot half the lawyers in this country - to get the other half's attention.
2) make the others that file these type of lawsuits, be tar and feathered (in their suits and wingtip shoes), then sent to a camp in Death Valley where they will be issued a sledge hammer and be forced to break large rocks into smaller rocks - from sun up to sunset

Laws need to be changed so that the people filing personal injury lawsuits are to pay the defendant's legal fees, plus a deterrent fee of 25% of the original lawsuit.

But that won't happen because the lawyers make the laws.

to find his wife in bed with another man.
