They're the best protection against that terrible "F" word.  Hold fast to your backpacks, boys!  Stay strong!

Forgive me for interrupting your Beevus and Butthead style haha so hilarious different derogatory names you call women.

It's not about "equality", it never was. By the time you figure it out, it won't matter.

You guys are writing yourself out of the script.

Don't bother flaming me, I won't be back to the thread :)

"....the men will only truly be liberated to love women and to be fully themselves when women are liberated to have a full say in the decisions of their lives and their society.

Until that happens, men are going to bear the guilty burden of the passive destiny they have forced upon women, the suppressed resentment, the sterility of love when it is not between two fully active, joyous people, but has in it the element of exploitation."

--Betty Friedan, Chicago, 1969

Thank gawd that now US women are eclipsing men in school and at work, women no longer have any resentment towards men, and men and women share a romantic bower of bliss.

WhippingBoy: dersk: It's not hard to believe that there's a woman somewhere who self-identifies as a feminist because she was insulted once. But it doesn't jibe with my experience. Every person I know who self-identifies as a feminist just thinks that women should be treated fairly and men shouldn't collectively be assholes. And I suspect that's where the vast majority are coming from.

I completely understand and respect that. However, in my experience, women are treated fairly and the vast majority of men are not assholes. Perhaps I'm seeing the world through rose-coloured glasses, or am willfully ignorant, I don't know. I just find it offensive, for example, when some "feminist" gets on his or her soapbox and tells me to "stop sexually assaulting women" when the very concept is abhorrent and utterly and completely repulsive to me. When you constantly hear about how "bad" the menz are, you tend to go on the defensive a bit.

My experience/observation also.
Added to that I have also missed out on a few jobs because I was not female, yet never gained a job because of being male.

I don't think I could take a feminist seriously who was in favour of conscription for men but not for women. One came up with the "But we need women to have children and rebuild our population!" So, I replied, you'd be in favour of enforcement of a minimum number of pregnancies for all fertile women after wartime? As well as polygamy- after all, the ratio of men to women is gonna be skewed then.
Her brain almost exploded.

When I say that, I get called a "chill girl" by people like Rebecca Watson and Amy Davis-Roth and Amanda Marcotte. Watson has been quick to say that where she is wise and knowing, the rest of these women who have actually gone into technical fields and who say that they are not being oppressed and harassed and subjected to misogynist treatment are simply too stupid to recognize what is happening to them. According to her, she once was the same way about the 'boys club' of hard science and skepticism, until she got old and wise and realized that they were being sexist. But for all her blue hair dye and Penn & Teller watching, she's still just a poser when it comes to being a real nerd, and that's why she doesn't have any cred. It's not cause she's got tits.

It's like that one with the YouTube video about how there need to be less porn ads on torrent sites because she's such a geek and she wants to avoid paying for music without having to see anything unsavory. She loves geek culture and claims she is a geek, but her "geek cred" seems to be leeching torrents and ... well nothing else, unless you count biatching about how women are portrayed in video games. Instead of using her mountain of nerdly skills to get into game coding, she blogs about it. Perhaps because she's not actually the computer geek she poses as on YouTube.

Betty:  When given power and money, women behave just like the male counter parts that you were so disgusted with.

Yes, I'm sure that really happened.
