Poor Clint. If he isn't aware he made a fool and a laughingstock of himself at the repub National Convention, someone should take him aside and clue him in. Really, he's not doing his cause any good and should probably just refuse to answer any political questions in his interviews. An adequate actor, an excellent director, a terrible pundit.

That's some damn fine reporting there Lou!

In all seriousness why are the same people (Repubs) that cry foul any time some leftist Hollywood type opens their mouth about politics, not counting Randy Quaid obviously because those moments are priceless for all... anyway I digress. Why is this the same party that is willing to put a nutbag Hollywood type center stage of their entire platform? I mean Clint really has two things he's a good at 1) movies and 2) being old angry and conservative just like most old angry white guys. Wow! shocker he might be dissatisfied with congress, thanks a whole bunch CNN! couldn't have done it without you. And thanks CNN for giving a voice to both idiots in the GOP for choosing to have Clint as a front man, and a voice to Clint himself which reinforces his mistaken notion that he is relevant in politics. Seriously suck it.

I think these are the so-called "low-information voters." These are people of the land. The common clay of the new west. You know... morons.

(Oh crap, I'm being asked about "congress" and I don't really know what a "congress" is. Don't wanna look dumb.)
"Yeah, congress is good. If anything, we need more congress."

Polls should have qualifying questions.

Q: What is Congress?
Q: What are 4 things Congress has done in the past year?

If you can't answer those question, "Thank you for your time. Good bye."

2013-02-10 12:26:45 PM
Nobody gives Congress the credit they deserve.  They do an amazing job of raising hundreds of millions of dollars in campaign bribes every two years.  And they work their asses off to do it.

Actually, given that the derp factor* of any political poll conducted in the US is around 23-27 percent, this is probably the correct answer.

*The percentage of people who, when polled, will always give the derpiest answer possible.  The derp factor was identified in mid-late 2008 when pollsters found that around 23 percent of Americans still believed George W. Bush was doing, as many respondents put it, "A dern-tootin hell of a job ther protectin' freedum n' whatsuch."

Didn't we try that three years ago? Seems to me it's the tea-party congresscritters who were voted in in 2010 who are the worst offenders.

And why 2016 and not 2014? You do know that we elect a new congress every two years, right?

2013-02-10 01:05:22 PM
And yet of the 79% who disapprove of the job Congress is doing, how many will re-elect the Congressman for their area because "He's one of the good ones"?

Congressional approval ratings < Congressional re-election rate

Two problems: first, Congress hasn't done much of anything for the last two years except try to repeal a bunch of Obama legislation, and filibuster anything Republicans don't like.

Second, if you started with questions like that, you'd have to call 100,000 people to get a significant sample of useful respondents.

2013-02-10 01:24:23 PM
A CNN poll conducted last month found only 21% approved of how Congress is handling its job.

So you're saying people's opinion of Congress is improving?

Except Clint's never really been that angry conservative nutbag. He's always been very moderate (pro-choice, came out in favor of same sex marriage, supports some degree of gun control, spoke out against the wars in Vietnam, Afghanistan and Iraq. His term as mayor of Carmel saw him support a number of environmental initiatives and so forth) and in the past he's spoken very respectfully of Obama which is why the whole empty chair thing seemed so surreal.

Why do people keep saying 'Congress' when it's really Republican obstructionism that's to blame? It's not that Congress isn't trying, it's that Republican's refuse to compromise on anything.

It's those damn dirty apes called democrats that won't turn America over to their corporate overlords. One nation, under corporate ownership. Divisible. Some Freedom, and liberty you can afford it. All hail, small government, non-judgmental friends with Jesus, republicans who fight against government spending.

Yeah, this.  I can think of 10 things that Congress has NOT done in the past year, but I struggle to think about even one thing is HAS done.
