I feel like his political affiliation is probably the least relevant part of the story.

I agree, but that doesn't stop a few nutjobs from trying to make this a political thing and get all whiny when they get called out on their BS.

Now to the topic at hand...what kind of truck are they getting?

Do you also find the entire story kind of odd?

A little.

I'll remember you said that next time we have a shooting, then you try to paint the NRA and gun owners as somehow complicit in their actions.

Whatever floats your boat.

I wonder who will pay the taxes owed on this truck.

Oh, wow... here's something I didn't know:  you owe the IRS tax on the full amount of a legal settlement, including the part that your attorney takes, and itemizing deductions may only make things worse.

Pretty much.  Just another day in LA the USA.  LAPD, scumbags all.

Nope.  They're just the ones we're talking about right now.

I never said that. I just said they never take these events seriously and seem to get the impression that the NRA thinks this is something we just have to deal with. I guess they're entitled to that opinion, but I respectfully disagree.

The only good idea they had is having more police officers stationed in schools. I agreed with the NRA on that one.

I bet these women jumped in the way of the seven brave LAPD officers, who were merely trying to defend themselves from a mirage of a potential enemy that was virtually trying to kill them. They are probably in cahoots with an imaginary Dorner.

They'd aim for any cameras first. Considering what bad shots they seem to be, they'd probably hit the judge. I doubt they'd shed any tears over a dead judge, though.

You don't seem to understand - it's the barrel of sewage theory of political identification.  Just like one drop of sewage in a barrel of wine turns the whole barrel into sewage, but one drop of wine in a barrel of sewage still leaves it a barrel of sewage, one non-conservative view makes you a liberal, no matter how many conservative views you hold.

Conservatives can get away with this order of preference:
1) Vote Republican
2) Vote Libertarian
3) Refuse to vote, be angry no matter the outcome, but despair if the Democrat wins

If your preference is:
1) Vote Republican
2) Vote Libertarian
3) Refuse to vote, but be happy the Democrat won  <=========== RED FLAG  (And by "Red" we mean all meanings of it)

You're a commie pinko liberal.

Mr. President, I haven't agreed with all of your decisions but of course I haven't agreed with all of your predecessors decisions. I think you've done a hell of a job with what you have been dealt and how you have managed it. I shed a tear the night you were initially elected President in 2008. I cracked a smiled when you were re-elected in 2012 because I really didn't think you were going to pull that one off.

So "Being proud of America for overcoming racism enough to elect a black man as President' = 'Being a super-liberal anti-gun nut',. Despite him explicitly saying he didn't vote in the general after the GOP didn't pick Huntsman.

Oh, and even if he DID vote Obama, Obama is a centrist at best. He just looks liberal compared to the raging fascist extremists in the GOP.

Bungles: I think one of the biggest difference with the USA and the rest of the Western world isn't the religiosity or the guns or political circus or the lack of social safety nets, but the nature of the police.

No-one in the UK or France or Australia or Germany or Canada or New Zealand would think twice about going up to a policeman and asking for directions or just a chat. The police in the US just seem to be wired and scary and angry.

Sadly, this is very true... when I was in London I asked one of the cops where such and such was, and he actually walked with me about a block to show me. Being from the US I initially thought this was to lure me into a merciless beatdown, but it turns out he was just being helpful.

Cops here are complete sh*tbags. I hope Dorner is keeping his firearms well maintained while on the run.

Fail in Human Form: Mrtraveler01: So I read the manifesto and I do see where he does support gun control and likes Piers Morgan.

He also listens to KFI (right-wing talk radio) and actually thinks Tim Tebow was good and Mark Sanchez is a rapist.

So what was the point in all of this again?

Oh yeah, you got to make your cute little political point. Now that you have, we can move on to the actual topic at hand.-

If he had been anti-gun control it would have been on the cover of every paper, the leading headline of every news report, and the first thing out of the gun control posters mouths on websites like this.  You damn well know it and you'd be saying the NRA gave the means for this "gun terrorist" to perform his acts and the NRA, along with its members, should be rounded up.  Not as much fun when the shoe's on the other foot is it?

So are you saying you're in support of crazy people obtaining or owning firearms?

Because if you have a point, I don't think you're making it very well...

2013-02-10 12:29:09 PM

Phinn: The LAPD is so generous (with taxpayer money), they should probably rename their organization to something more appropriate.

Like the "Ministry of Love."

Anyway, one of the loose ends in this sordid tale is that the LAPD still has Teresa "Chupacabra" Evans to deal with.  They can't find her retroactively guilty and fire her, because that would validate the actions of the crazy-man Dorners.  And they can't keep her around on patrol while she continues to kick people in the chest, crack skulls and flay the skin off of people.

So, really, the only two options for the LAPD at this point are to either kill her (like she's some kind of Asian newspaper thrower or something), or promote her.  She'll probably end up with a desk job with a fat pension where she can't sadistically torture citizens quite as frequently as she does these days.

Or they could just do to her what they do to the few good cops that report the bad cops: send her on violent crime in progress calls and when she calls for backup, nobody is available.
