Sounds like a good market for Grayson Sky Domes Ltd...

Lovely. Let's get rid of the EPA so we can make a market for this stuff and create some more jobs in selling this kind of stuff in the US. Of course the richest and most enterprising will just import the stuff from China.

I always like the rise of designer face masks portrayed in Infinite Jest. How  due to video-phones, you always want to put on your best face before answering a call.

Yet another segment of the economy we've just HANDED to China. Thanks environmentalists!

The US could help China become cleaner if we were smart enough to export our tech and workers.... Billions of potential dollars...

You seem to be suffering from the delusion that the government of China gives a rat's ass about the health of the populace.

They're just trying to reduce the population.  It will work.

And this is why I'm not concerned about the chinese becoming the next world power, their population will be far too ill in 20-30 years.

Why should the government give clean air for free when there is private industry just waiting to provide it for a price that's not unreasonable for most people?

Because animals, glaciers, waterways, and vegetables can't afford it.

I had hoped it was, but I do have people on my Facebook that would think his post was perfectly reasonable.

I seem to recall that exporting our tech and workers is the root of the problem.

/Government wants money, does not regulate industry, environment suffers.
/They could have nipped this in the bud decades ago by reading up on how the west reacted to smog and events like the dust bowl.

Not just China, saw some lady with a custom face mask the other day in the grocery store. I've seen plenty of folks with masks, this was the first one that wasn't just plain white.

/some folks are paranoid about catching germs.
//walked past one and started coughing, curious as to what sort of reaction I was going to get

It's interesting, when a government does too much, it is bad, when it does too little, it is also bad.

Too much of the wrong things, not enough of the right things. Governments can be myopic like that.
Ideally there should be an economic motivation for doing the right thing, but there often isn't at first.
Hence the need for balanced regulations and lots of public oversight.

When government and industry practically become the same thing... Watch out.

After the havoc that recently happened when the Sydney strain of norovirus hit the US West Coast, I'm starting to think masks and gloves in public are a good idea here.

Especially after I caught that farking norovirus on the exact same day that the media started publishing headlines to warn us about it.  I literally had just enough time to see the headline on Fark, but not enough time to click the link, before it put me out of commission for the next 36 hours.  That thing took out half my office at the same time, and we lost a full week of productivity.

At first I thought the headline said "whore-house bubble domes", and then I thought:
