Bale bounces it in.  Things are not looking good for Newcastle.

Very nice free kick to get us started.

2013-02-09 07:52:09 AM
The early game is on ESPN2, btw

Newcastle actually looking decent at the moment. Spurs looking more dangerous overall but an upset would not shock me.

"Merde" can be heard ringing around the Sports Direct Areana St James Park

Put my insurance here on a draw. Good game so far, the missed chances might just be Spurs' undoing though.

GOUFFRAN right on cue.

I'm sitting on a perfect now, but I would not be shocked if there were more goals in this one.

I've got it as a 2-1 Spurs win but would love to be disappointed.

Oh man, my picks have been atrocious in 2013. I wanted to challenge for the top 10, now I'm struggling to stay on the first page.

Half-time reading, if you so desire:

The Munich disaster and the legend of the Busby Babes.

Sir's longstanding difficulty with goalkeepers.

What have United done for the past 3,623 games? (I was disappointed to discover that the answer wasn't ''win''). (Apologies for the Daily Heil link).

Playing on a Sunday before a Champions League game. Who does that?

As a Magpies fan, I approve of his Foreign Legion stuff.  They're pretty badass.

I like French people....I like spurs dropping points. I can really get behind a Newcastle win today.

Busted leg?

I'd put money on a cracked shin bone. Seems innocuous, but that kind of injury just debilitates you.

Hi all. Stuck at work all weekend, so will be depending on this thread for updates.

2013-02-09 09:16:02 AM
Spurs are shiat going forward. They should have outbid Chelsea for Demba Ba so they have someone who can actually score goals.

2013-02-09 09:20:20 AM
Bale is so money.

2013-02-09 09:23:26 AM
GARETH BALE's on fire, 5 in 5 isn't it now?

Can WHU continue the downward spiral?

survey says... YES!

That's a red if Dowd was closer. Can't go in studs up like that Yohan.

Langston: Bale bags brace, batters burgundy.

Mmmmm. Baguettes and burgundy.

So close Ameobi like.

Ameobi? Opinion is split.

How did Bale miss the wide open net for his hat trick?!?!?

I wish Benoit Assou-Ekotto would have been involved in the second score so I could have ended it with "Balls"

Also, I'm sitting on a desperately needed perfect

2013-02-09 09:40:20 AM
Damn, Bale sure Torres'ed that chance. It was a hard ask but he should have gone for placement instead of power.

2013-02-09 09:41:52 AM
Perfect achieved. Thank FSM

2013-02-09 09:42:15 AM
I have to be productive today (though I'm probably not going to be), but I will be hardcore and watch a DC United pre-season match in a tournament today. That's dedication.

Your FFPL report for Round 25

farm9.staticflickr.com

Having briefly touched the sky, Obamartins has collapsed back to being  120 points off the lead. I meanwhile am stepping over the recumbent and broken bodies of my minions, whilst on the other side of the sake bar kcostell is retying his headband. 'So, a challenger appears. Perhaps you will be a worthy opponent - unlike all the others.'

At the bottom, The_Known_Universe is still flirting with zero.

On the drop this week we have Langston with -40, TottenhamLukewarmSpur with -55 but the standout of this week is NorfolkingChance with -65. He's really hit form recently - just four weeks ago he was on 1000+, now look at him go!

Behind kcostell's 125 we have martissimo and mitchcumstein1 on 65.

Climbing and diving limited this week - nathanjr and martissimo up 2 but mitchcumstein up 5. Lostlimey down 2. No page 1/2 switches.

Kcostell maintains presidency of the BB club. Adubs86, StRalphtheLiar and Chattanooga_FC the Executive Committee.

Kei Kamara on the bench for Norwich, hope he gets some time and has a good cameo.

I like to think i mirror my team. Started out crap, did very well, went crap again. Now i hope i can pull it back to 1,000

ADubs86: Kei Kamara on the bench for Norwich, hope he gets some time and has a good cameo.

So do i but the problem we have isn't people who can put the ball into the back of the net, its supplying the balls. We have been far to relient on Hoolahan and when he doesn't play well we tend to loose.

I know they'd like him there, and to be honest he'd probably fit in well there. He's not a bad player on balance, but not a good enough defender for Arsenal at the moment. He was a serious liability when Gibbs was injured. In a couple years he might be a decent enough defensive midfielder, but he's just not fast enough to keep up with wingers and gets juked much too easily in a league that punishes you for that.

YOU SHUT YOUR WHORE MOUTH

/though I'll feel much better if Arsenal has the presence of mind to get three-goal lead for a change instead of letting Sunderland hang around

2013-02-09 11:05:40 AM
So Blattr went on record that racism is a bigger problem than the HUGE match fixing that's been going on. Now, I'm not saying he right or wrong, but why put them in an order. Him saying this screams of "I'm downplaying this because my hands are really dirty..."

A much different approach to playing the race card.

2013-02-09 11:16:21 AM
See, this drives me crazy. Arsenal gets a lead and gets complacent. They're not pressing, they're not sprinting, and they look like they're at practice and not really trying that hard.

That was a horrible run of play right there. It pisses me off.

I see that Wilshere has gone off injured. Wonderful.

F*ck. Arsenal down to 10 men after Jenkinson got his second yellow.

And Jenkinson sent off...
