LinkedIn is the least fun I've ever had on a social networking site. Is it supposed to be serious or something? This is the Internet.

Linkedin is annoying.  I keep a profile with nothing but my current title just so former co-workers can find me if they want.  But I HATE the idea of having a constant resume for the world to see and I won't do it.  What ever happened to write your resume to the specific job you are applying for.  I can write my resume many different ways, multimedia production, web development, motion graphics, video editing, communications, media relations, etc.  Having one resume that all can see sucks.  And I can't find a way to make it say 'resume available on request' so I'm forced just to leave the damn thing blank.

Want to use trashy apps like that? Stick to Facebook and the million other dregs of the earth social sites out there. I'm sure LinkedIn is worthless when you work in retail or other low wage jobs (i.e. the vast majority of Farkers), but it's a decent option for staying in touch with professional acquaintances.

LinkedIn started out as a serious business networking site, but then realized that there was money to be made by going the Fecebook route.  (Not a typo.)  They kept the "business" veneer to help distinguish themselves as being different, but they really are just another info-data harvester.

So its like the local Lodge, but for the plebs who can't afford the membership?

I think the irony of all the petty squabbling these sites go through is completely lost on their users.

"We're the most social site on the net, but you can't use your social program on our site!"

"Oh yeah? Well to prove WE'RE the best social network site on the net we're going to block all access to your site from ours!"

LinkedIn would be a great name for a porn site.

You mean there's something to LinkedIn besides constant spam in my work email Inbox when someone "invites me into their professional network" (and then reminds me two more times when I ignore it the first time)?

Exactly!  Because no one ever changes their email address.

2/10

But I'll say this in case you're serious: If you need to use LinkedIn to "stay in touch" with professional acquaintances, you're probably a faceless spineless cog in the system as opposed to the successful entrepreneurial wonder you think you are.
