eddievercetti: B. Was this season supposed to be the last until Hasbro couldn't find a way to reboot the series so they said fark it, let's do another season? I kept hearing this was the last season.

I have heard a number of things, some through "unofficial official channels" (basically people who work for or with the show)

The scenario that makes the most sense to me is that this season was short because Hasbro was, and still is, flirting with Di$ney. There was talk of a MLP movie, which apparently they were hoping to have Disney money for... so short season 3 + movie.  Then Disney bought Lucasfilm, and apparently that ended the odds of a 2012-13 acquisition of Hasbro by Disney, so they went ahead and started work on a full season 4.

I have NO idea if that is true or not, but many of the factors in that version make sense.

Bronies or not, Hasbro is making MASS bank from MLP right now, and is apparently already ramping up toy production and design for season 4 plus 2013-14 holiday orders, so I think we'll have ponies and bronies a plenty for at least the next 16 months.

Remember the rumor about Fluttershy turning into a dragon in season 3? Yeah, that never happened. The synopsis for the series finale is on Wikipedia and it says nothing about Twilight becoming a princess or an Alicorn. What it does say gives a pretty good idea of what actually does happen in the episode. Anyway here is what I believe is going to end up happening in the finale.

(Possible spoilers, stop reading here if you don't want to know what the episode is about).

Title: Magical Mystery Cure
Synopsis: When Twilight casts a spell that switches the Cutie Marks and
destinies, the only way to reverse the spell is by writing her own magic.

From this I believe that Twilight will end up having a spell backfire that switches her with either Celestia, Luna or Cadence as well as switching all the other ponies. She will have to come up with a spell on her own that will set everything straight, which will of course make her a normal unicorn again in the end.

I think people are overreacting to rumors, we don't have enough information about the episode and I really doubt the alicorn thing is going to be permanent. It would throw off the balance of the main cast for one thing (two unicorns, two pegasus and two earth ponies). I am betting it will be a temporary thing in just the finale and she'll be back to normal by the end of the episode. Even if it is permanent big deal, the show would get pretty stale if nothing ever changed.

You probably want to clarify vague statements before making them when they come off like that.

I assumed since I was quoting the picture comment, and specifically said I didn't recognize that person, that my comment would naturally target the person pictured.

I assume your fascination with kiddy diddling is repressed feelings you have for the chance to commit such an act and you're a danger to yourself and others. Please consult a therapist and work these things out before you do something horrible.

Hugs fellow brony sister! Welcome to the herd! Did you watch the original cartoon in the 80's like me? I still have some of my original toys somewhere.

Do what I did and get your Husband into it, now he's a bigger fan that me! He thought it was dumb at first as well. He got hooked when we watched Applebuck Season.

Apparently Applejack's behavior in the episode is exactly what you experience when "Sleep Deprivation High", my Husband has experienced this multiple times so he found this episode especially hilarious.

Whichever greyfaced suit made the call to excise Derpy from the show can go sit on a pineapple.  There was one complaint, and it was made by an idiot.  She continues to be placed front and center in every other related official medium like the comics, games and such but is never referred to by name.  It's a weird and stupid situation and a real shame because one of the fun things about seasons 1 and 2 was playing Where's Waldo trying to spot where the animators had placed that googly little pegasus this time.

FirstNationalBastard: Maybe I'm just an old fark at this point, but I can't see pirating something like this, especially since you know it's done on a shoestring budget and needs all sales possible to keep it afloat.

No, it happened.

DeLancie funded a lot of it out of his own pocket, the rest was funded by volunteers doing work that would have otherwise cost a lot of money, and fandom Kickstarter drives. The intention was to release the first draft to the community for purchase from the website to recoup the costs, and pay for bonus material that was going to be used to market it to distributors and independent film groups, and to try to get it into independent film festivals.

Two things happened.

1) The Brony Fandom recoiled in horror when it realized what it was being portrayed by - namely people who are known, far and wide, as drama whores and people who tend to cause discord and strife.
2) People said a gigantic FU to Delancie's plea to not pirate the movie on the internet, and the distributors that WERE Interested in it backed out. They lost the funding for the extras and new additions, and as such decided to shut production down.

eddievercetti: Was this season supposed to be the last until Hasbro couldn't find a way to reboot the series so they said fark it, let's do another season? I kept hearing this was the last season.

Yes and no. The season was only supposed to be 13 episodes, because Hasbro's team didn't think that they would have enough ratings and interest to sell another season. Their initial plan was to make 13 episodes now, and then 13 episodes in the second half of the year to make a complete season of 26. Now that Episode 13 is not going to be the series finale, they are scrambling to change things around and set up a backdrop for the movie. (Probably involving the CMC) and the fourth season would carry on from the movie.

There was a rumor earlier in the year that the series would end and be spun off into a series about the CMC and some background ponies in the future, but that clearly hasn't been confirmed.

This.

Although the bronies, with a median age of around 20, tend to be a little hypersensitive, I remind myself that's also about the age at which people were likely to take Kirk-vs-Picard debates seriously. Between the Alicorn shiatstorm, the Season 4 info, the possibility of a feature film, and the Mane6 C&D, it's been a weird week in the Ponyverse. Us old farts who've seen these patterns before in the arcs of other fandoms (like when old-school BSG fans flipped out when they found out Starbuck was going to be female, or the Firefly/Serenity crowd) tend to chuckle and laugh.

The documentary was a smorgasbord of self-importance from major people in the fandom. What it was intended to do, namely illustrate how varied and diverse the fandom was supposed to be, did not happen. Instead it became the people who were the minority portraying themselves as the majority.

Overall I liked it though. Did you notice the young American aspie kid has the same exact mannerisms as his Dad? Hey both stand the same way, tilt their head the same way when they talk, etc. It just makes me laugh.

/Regular people don't make good TV I guess.

Maybe I'm just an old fark at this point, but I can't see pirating something like this, especially since you know it's done on a shoestring budget and needs all sales possible to keep it afloat.

Hell, I've seen enough TV on DVD series and comics abandoned or canceled because people would rather stream or download shiatty quality copies than just pay the money for a good copy they would actually own.

/however, the RIAA still deserves a good farking. Plus, music artists make most of their money on touring and hardly none on albums, so pirate away as far as music goes, and go see a concert.

Eligarf: Just who do you think the cops would consider more of a danger to elementary school children, a man with a licensed firearm or a man dressed up as a little girl's toy horse?

When it comes to reality, you are the one with a lot to learn.

Wow. That's a heck of an accusation you're making buddy. Any photographic evidence of what you're accusing me of?

You have a lot in common with this machine:

sullysrental.com

Seriously. Seek help for you clear inclination towards seeing sexual paraphilia in everything. (Which, seriously, is an actual sign of mental illness.)If you're near firearms, you need to avoid the nearest elementary school so you don't decide to redecorate it with the brains of 23 children to keep the evil from getting them.

If, on the other hand, you're trolling, you're horrible at doing it, and you need to spend more time on the politics tab to learn how it's done.

WAT?

/Seriously pissed.

It's not dead per se, they shut it down production of SOME bonus material due to piracy and costs. The people who contributed to the kickstarter to get bonus material will still get a DVD copy.

You can buy the brony doc here:  http://www.scrnland.com/p/bd/

I still think I, in some small way, helped create it.

I've looked up and down this thread, and searched between the lines and behind the furniture, and I can't find any pervs.  Just a bunch of bronies enjoying a show that they enjoy, and a few people throwing hissy fits about others liking what they don't like.

Next episode will be the first one I'll try to see as it airs, the butthurt over twilicorn has been delicious.

/As many pony threads as there have been by now, you guys that come in to flame us just seem kinda sad and late to the party.

I recently watched a couple episodes. The show sucks.

So is this like Mark Wahlberg in The Other Guys? You started watching the show so you can more effectively make fun of bronies?

Just like the reason he said he started watching gay porn for his research paper.

Nobody with the word brony in their name can call anyone gay. I watched it a few times. That's all. Know thy enemy etc.

last episode?  This show's nearly over already???  :(

ok, nvm...I found another link that explained that it's the season 3 finale.

/yay pony!

Yeah, I don't think Hasbro and the Hub are going to let this cash cow go. Making twilight a princess is just something they are doing to sell a new line of toys.

Fourth season is pretty much confirmed at 26 episodes.

And a movie marketed to the "older" demographics. Don't forget that.

God, I hope it's Derpy's story.
