This storm is ridiculous.  It has already dropped to nearly 65 degrees in my neighborhood, when the breeze is blowing.

So, we're going along with the Weather Channel's new thing of naming winter storms? Even though the National Weather Service doesn't agree with it?

Cletus from Canuckistan: Snow's all over here in the GTA, roads were crap but I drove downtown to see 2 local bands with Fark in their names (Farked Up and Holy Fark). Takes a lot to knock this maritimer off the road. Figure we got almost a foot.

Yes, but it's the GTA. Get more than 1/8th an inch and no one seems to have any clue on how to drive.

Did knock out part of the subway system, though... that doesn't happen often.

Seriously, can we please not start naming every random storm just to induce panic? Though this last one made me play a whole bunch of Nightwish which is never a bad thing...

well fine snow on the grass
( I am downtown, there is nothing on the walks, shoveled and salted ...)

but certainly not the 2+ feet that some of these people are getting today and tonight !!

I'm near Oak Park(Hanson stadium) and some people didn't shovel and walking just down the street is slippery. That slushy snow on Thursday was heavy as shiat. I must have removed from a 60'x25" path(front and back) about 200-250lb of slush

I'm stuck in the middle of it in BFE, MA. I'm actually still at work and I was supposed to leave at 1am to go to a  hotel 1/2 mile away to stay for the night. The local roads haven't been plowed in a while and the parking lot was up to 1 1/4ft of snow at one point. Plow trucks drove through the parking lot about 1/2 hour ago and it's already back up to 5". Visibility is nil.

/I do have AWD, but my tires are crap.

It is fluffy outside.  The kids gave up on shoveling   That is more of a statement of their work ethic, rather than snow fall amounts.  Kids today, they don't embrace the slave labor ethic.  Pity. Did I mention it is blowing like snot and fluffy?  The transformers blowing out killed my TV.  Sigh.

Meanwhile in Oregon, we're having another winter without snow, unless you go up into the hills above 1500'.

The dog got me up so he could go out.  Boy was he unhappy, his head was just above the snow.  We have well over a foot, maybe two.  It's light and fluffy and drifting a lot so it's hard to know for sure.  Thankfully we still have power, according to Boston.com Quincy and Plymouth are blacked out.  Back to bed, not looking forward to a long day of shoveling.

You mean a regional snowstorm where a major hub for overseas flights is? I'm not sure what you're getting at.

Oh and grow up.

2013-02-09 06:57:15 AM
I was wondering why on earth someone would go shovel the 401.  The driving skills on that highway are bad (particularly in that particular area of Toronto) on a clear summer day with the sun shining and birds chirping.  Took me 3 hours to get from the airport to Ajax on Thursday, and there was just a little bit of snow and no accidents.  I thought there would be at least one car gloriously aflame.

One snowflake = standstill.

I was in that, it was pretty fun actually. What happened is the snowplows going along the highway would create a huge wall of snow blocking the on/off ramps. Same thing was happening along a bunch of exits I drove past, I LMAO'd at some people trying to dig out a GO bus. Later, I got to do a U-turn on the ramp from the Eastbound 401 to the 404/DVP.
