I had a student come down with this two years ago. He had a promising tennis career ahead of him and *poof* - gone, just like that. Makes one appreciate the little things a bit more.

Nice find, subby.

Girl comes into the ER, can't move her arms and legs. CAT scan is clear though, let's release her. Really? They released her after the initial tests didnt show anything, despite her still being mysteriously paralyzed?

EH, it's neurogenic, what you expect Dr. House to come up with something?

What, pray tell, does this have to do with the price of tea in China? There are more important things than gimps making basketball shots.

I was hoping this was a repeat of the baby powder story

My friend's little sister had something similar happen to her at the age of 14...just one day, she collapsed.  Her's happened in her lower back, so she has use of her upper body; but she can't walk.  She does have some feeling in her legs- just enough to use them to help her scoot across the floor without a wheelchair.  But now she loves playing wheelchair basketball, and is even a player for the city team (she used to play in France for a while, too).  It's scary to think that something like that can just rob you of your mobility without any warning at all, but it happens.

RUDY! RUDY! RUDY!

/Wonder if they chanted her name as she left the court?

Despite her one times dreams and aspersions being altered, I am sure this meant the world to her.  I am happy for this young little lass and hope the best for her.  It's nice to see something like this happen.  These "Sappy" icons seem to happen under the sport tabs more often than not, as opposed to "other news".  Maybe the "other news" tabs just would rather be more tabloid like. Or maybe that she is at an age where people still teach a team effort and not to slit each others throat for a dollar.  Could be both. Either way good for her and her team, as they were a part of this as well.

Go Girl.
/That was the first time I ever used "Go Girl" as a statement.
//  Not the first time I used 2 slashies
