That is either one hot dude as the bride or one ugly chick as the groom.  I can't tell...

Nice.

I find that picture quite appropriate. That same sex couple is falling into gender role stereotypes because that makes sense.

How can you even do that on accident? I could Google "wedding kiss" and find you hundreds of thousands of stock photos of heterosexual couples kissing in like thirty seconds.

"She" has a pronounced Adam's apple.

It's the only possible explanation.

They should have been able to figure that out based on the amount of sunshine and the way the tide moves.

Because People in power are Stupid: I find that picture quite appropriate. That same sex couple is falling into gender role stereotypes because that makes sense.

Actually you might be on to something there...  Why not just both be an a dress (for innies), or both in a suit (for outies) or whatever. Why go to the trouble of imposing gender roles where they don't actually apply?  If not for some measure toward conformity.

/someone hold me, I  just agreed with BPipaS

Well, both wearing a dress just because they're women is what's actually conforming ro gender roles. I'm guessing the woman in the suit is not the type of woman who's ever been comfortable in a dress. Some of us aren't. I'm not a lesbian, but I'd get married in jeans and a t-shirt if my family would let me get away with it.

Okay. I get that too, I suppose I'm looking at it more from the traditional marriage roles more spicifically.

I was wondering when this story was going to hit Fark.

Here's the screen grab since Fox has since taken it down:

Fox News Accidentally Uses Photo of Same-Sex Couple to Illustrate Article About the Importance of Heterosexual Marriage

And derp as hard as you like, NOTHING will top the comments on that Gawker link.

You know it doesn't even really matter which side of the issue one is on.  It would seem that this would be universally funny.  What are the odds they get a laugh out of it themselves and all is well.

Finally, someone who isn't a redneck said it. If I'm ever dumb enough to follow through on my threats of marriage, I'm showing up in flip-flops, my favorite worn-out jeans, and probably a Saints hat.

I ask of the world - who doesn't like wearing flops and an NFL hat? Am I really an asshole for it being my go-to outfit?

Come on, they have to be doing this on purpose by now.

Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't they just have this exact same article (by the same author even) like two months ago?

The picture they used last time was more amusing too:

Ya, I don't think most of us are surprised that Fox News runs a "women should know their place" article every month or so.

To be happy we must admit women and men aren't equal.

Do they mean

To be happy, knuckledraggers must admit women and men aren't equal.

Or

To be happy, we must admit women and men aren't the same thing.

DemonEater: ClavellBCMI: Jeff_Reisberg: This unfortunate choice doesn't detract form the overall message. Traditional gender roles exist because that's the optimal allocation of resources in society -plus women aren't capable of making the complicated, continuous decisions necessary to be successful in the modern world.

Also, the link is wrong. this is not a picture from a homosexual "wedding".
1) homosexual cannot be married, as marriage is between a man and a woman.

2) Entering into a marriage agreement requires both entrants to be of sound mind. Those afflicted with the homosexual disorder are not of sound mind, and therefore are not able to enter into ANY legal arrangement.

Time to *plonk* a bigoted fundie troll.

I dunno, looks more like bad satire to me

Either way, not worth reading.

Maybe. And I wonder if Alaska (the couple's home state) or New York (scene of the photograph) recognizes the tort of false light or permits non-celebrities to assert the right of publicity.

By the way, I submitted this with a funnier different headline. I'm just glad it was finally greened, because it's a truly wonderful story.

Glanced at his profile. Seems like he has some sort of mental disorder. He's got world salad and some sort of theory as his profile bio.

FTFA(Fox): Prior to the 1970s, people viewed gender roles as as equally valuable. Many would argue women had the better end of the deal!

Yes. The roles were viewed as equally valuable -- unfortunately, the people we not.
And yes, many would argue that. Many people are idiots.

I also liked this gem:
FTFA(Fox): Those of us with children know better. We know little girls love their dolls and boys just want to kick that ball. This doesn't mean men can't take care of babies or women can't play sports. It just means each gender has its own energy that flows in a specific direction. For God's sake, let it flow.

It's actually a fair point, but the author is contradicting herself without realizing it. She is right: people should not care about gender trends. That's just data. People shouldn't actively try to fight against biology (when it's not harmful). But, she applies that insight selectively to people who actively go against gender trend simply because they are gender trends; she insults and slights the outliers of the trends. She essentially demands universal compliance. Most boys do x, so all boys should do x. Heaven forbid a boy grows up to like other boys; if he does, then he very much must not go with the flow. Fight the flow, boy; FIGHT IT!

/granted homosexuality wasn't specifically mentioned, but the point remains RE outliers of any gender trend.

This wasn't an accident.  Fox News knows conservative religious types are sheep ready to be sheared of their cash.  Makes you wonder if anybody really believes whatever the Republicans/Teabaggers push.
