Good for you Mr. Cromwell, having met him a few times (he and my father were friends for some time because they were both character actors who lived close by), I say kick 'em in the teeth.

"Please, Mr. Cromwell. We need you to be at that meeting!"

Cromwell looked up at the sky as he gave serious consideration to the request. After a few moments, he made his heartfelt decision. "Why not?"

I feel sad about this.  Finding out that someone like James Cromwell is a PETA punk is a bit like finding out that hot model/actress is a PETA'er.  Or a smoker.  It's all just disappointing.

You want to ban animal testing? Then volunteer as a test subject, you stooge. Though even then scientists are too ethical to use human subjects in most instances.

Cats are handy for neuro research. That's almost certainly what he's so much in arms about - finding out how the brain works and how we can better repair it.

And go to hell, subby, for the tag abuse.

I am so glad I wasn't eating when I read that. As much as I can't stand PETA, they do occasionally manage to do something good. Wanna test on animals? Then use animals no one gives a shiat about, like chimpanzees.

I loved the look on Kevin Spacey's face when he said that. It was like he was putting one over on him. Which he was.

Thankfully I watched "L.A. Confidential" some time after I watched the season of "24" he was in. Otherwise, I'd just know him as Jack Bauer's dad.

There was a time in America when convicts could volunteer to make money by participating in product testing. Thanks to the dooshbags at the ACLU this was halted. If you saw first hand the cruelty lab animals are subjected to you would vomit and cry like little girls.

Honest question: Was the pig in Babe buried intact or did someone get some serious bacon and chops? I would have eaten the hell out of that pig. I hate to admit that, but I'm just saying what we're all thinking here.

It's not enough to be adorable if you're that freakin' tasty.

yeah, I hate it when people have convictions they believe in

I used to like this actor,

but... now my mental image of him is mixing with the demagogued stereotype I've created in my mind about people that actual care about animals and it's just totally killing my boner

Why can't these people stick to ineffective letters that get ignored and shiatcanned?

so disappointing

Seen plenty of labs.  Every one had happy animals treated very humanely by the local IACUC.  Not that it disproves that there are non-ideal labs, but most universities go out of their way to keep their animals as healthy and happy as possible.

/Stressed, Ill, or generally poorly treated animals provide bad data

Should we really give a shiat about most people?

Too many of 'em, most act worse than animals.

We got over 7 billion of the farkers all over the place causin chaos because they have opposable thumbs and just enough brains to be dangerous. Most would slaughter one another over religious beliefs or territory or food. Most would stab you in the face for a better life.

Wow, way to overgeneralize, my man. If I said to you, "Most black people would stab you in the face for a better life," you would rightly call me a racist. Yet you have no trouble making the same blanket generalization about the human race. Why is anti-human racism just fine and dandy with you folks?

Nobody's perfect. He is all in when it comes to PETA activities. On the one hand, he's no poser. On the other hand full PETA makes you a bit douchey.

But it's James Cromwell, so I'll overlook it.

2013-02-09 07:41:20 AM
Volunteer for testing, then.

The result of anti-research folks is that the labs will just go somewhere that people aren't so prissy about animals, like China.

The weight of the collective acting power in the cast of that movie is higher than most stars in our galaxy.

James Ellroy is a farking nutjob but dam that's a great book as well.
