Their movement suggests they're walking on webs, but how the hell does a web cover that kind of area.  Anyone know what's going on here?

/don't care what anyone thinks, that kind of shiat makes my spine tingle.

There's a gas station near where I live that has to have twice-weekly sprays done on it's overhead lighting outdoors, otherwise they get like this during the summer months.  It's farking scary.  Really.

My daughter discovered a black widow living under our bathroom sink once. I'm not a spider killer as a rule, but that one had to die.

Black widows and brown recluses are the only spiders I will kill. Any others, I'll just catch them and put them outside. I don't get a lot of spiders in my house, though, because there's no food available for them.

At first, I thought it was Okinawan, but I may be mistaken. So, avoid southern Japanese islands, I guess.

My house is spider central this winter for some reason.  I haven't seen much in the way of insects so I am not sure what my tiny houseguests  are eating.

They could be eating other spiders. A lot of spiders are cannibalistic.

Some can live a very long time without food, as well. For instance, a brown recluse can go a year without eating. Fun fact: Brown recluses are so good at hiding that if you see one, there's probably at least ten living in your house.

It sounds Portugese, so I am guessing Brazil (I wouldn´t go there even if they didn't have spiders).

I demand to know how this is possible. Then I demand somebody to tell me that this isn't possible in New Mexico. I need that person to repeat this to me until The Fear subsides. I estimate 4 to 6 hours.

If that person could also cradle me as a sob, that's be choice.

Agreed. Here in NC I've found black widows and recluses in the yard, basement, etc. They die ASAP - OTHERWISE, I leave the basic garden spiders be - as I hate mosquitoes more. I've watched many rather large & quite cool looking spiders build their webs during dusk hours. It's quite an impressive critter...

/but my daughter still freaks out about them

I was fascinated and creeped out until he panned overhead.

At that point I pulled muscles in my neck from ducking, shrieked loud enough to wake the cat, and pushed away from my computer and wound up against the dishwasher.

GAH!
