As a former college radio DJ and music director, let me say "fark YOU BILLY TUBBS!  fark YOU BILLY TUBBS!  fark YOU BILLY TUBBS!"

AgentBang: Some of those I suppose I get, but why not Cannibal Corpse? Or Deicide? Those words aren't inherently dirty. Maybe Satan-ey, but not really offensive.

Catholic school. All the explanation you need.

Not to mention that the sites layout makes your eyes bleed.

Pussy Overload was my theme for a particular night back in the late 70s.  Ah... good night that was... Somewhere out there campfire songs have been written about that night.

Langdon Alger: From the Patton Oswalt bit, I think "Uncle Touchies Puzzle Basement" would be a fun name for a band.

Uuuuuncle Touchy's Naked Puzzle Basement....you won't wear a shirt, and you'll cryyyyy.

Excellent! Velvet Acid Christ isn't on the list - now I wanna call up and request "Slut" from their 1999 album.

More Late 60's  college radio fun:  DJ reads a public service announcement about venereal disease, then plays "Everything that touches you".

Looks like a list of potential baby names... I'll give it to the missus and see if she'll approve for our upcoming arrival.

I remember a woman who sang folk songs at Wreak Beach, the Vancouver nude beach who called herself Yoni Mitchell.

I'd like to know what is offensive to Christ, the Pope, the clergy, Christianity or religion in general about "Bongzilla", "Wall of Smegma", "Ballsac", "Mighty Sphincter", or "Rhino Clit".

The first two are just silly phrases a kid would make up, while the last three were in fact created by the Lord, and thus reflect the glory of his creation.

2013-02-08 11:56:57 AM
I doubt that management could hear the difference between songs from these bands and nameable similar bands, as long as the bands weren't mentioned by name.

2013-02-08 11:57:56 AM
I can think of a few more that should be on this list. Off the top of my head:

fark..I'm Dead
fark the Facts
Cliteater
Nunwhore Commando 666
Cumchrist
Excrementory Grindfarkers
Genitorturers (although they aren't metal)
Necrophagist (?)

Glitchwerks: So the Jesus & Mary Chain are okay.  That's really all that matters.

Came here to point this out.

How could they leave out "Jesus' Penis", from the early 90's?

Like how they call it a "Pirate Radio".

List also neglected Revolting Cocks.  Could be a Hypo Luxa fan on staff.

I suspect no one at Gawker has actually listened to WSOU.  Despite Seton Hall's religious connections, it's the heaviest metal-format radio station I've ever tuned in.

2013-02-08 12:07:39 PM
There is this magical thing called "life" that some if us have, you may know it better referred to as "IRL" and those of us who have it, or at least a little bit of it, don't actually spend every waking hour trolling every website available on the whole of the inner tubes. So, if something also happens to be on one of the other sites and if it happened this morning, yesterday, a week or a month ago-- WE DON'T GIVE A FARK. Seriously, STFU and GBTReddit.

2013-02-08 12:08:01 PM
I SO knew that Morbid Angel would be on that list.  And that really sucks, because they are one of the best bands in that whole genre of music.

Their "Blessed Are the Sick" is still one of the most awesome things ever recorded.

I wonder something...  I haven't listened to SOU in a LONG time.  But back in my trash metal days, in the late 80s or so, it was always a local band's primary goal to get their music played on that station.  They were the top of the scene.  Is it still like that?

//My band's name was Belial.  Maybe that explains why we never got played...

2013-02-08 12:08:56 PM
Oh, I just knew it was going to be WSOU. This is my favorite local station and they play great stuff.  Weirdest station for a Catholic school ever, but it generally rocks.  Just looked at what was on recently and it seems to be an hour of unusually clean vocals.  You can keep Morbid Angel, they suck.

Testament "Into the Pit"
Motorhead "The Game"
H2O "ROLE MODEL"
Dream Theater "PANIC ATTACK"
P.Jeans "Romanticize Me"
Nightwish "Nemo"
Chimara "Born In Blood"
Megadeth "Rattlehead"
Black Label Society "Death March"
Funeral for a Friend "Best Frieds And Hospital Beds"

2013-02-08 12:09:20 PM
at least they can still play The Mentors...

Never watched it, but was it bad enough to ban from radio?
Also, FREE PUSSY OVERLOAD!

I'm pretty sure it's beacuse "Dark" precedes "Angel", which is a bad thing I guess, but I'm going to pretend it's about this

You keep your opinion to yourself there, Chubby!

I have a good, and related story, though...

I used to work for a place that allowed you to print custom messages on candy, through a website.  Since it wasn't uncommon for people to write all kinds of crazy shiat on them, we had to have a "blcklist" of words that the software would catch, and inform the user they couldn't print that.
So management sent me an email of the list of words that couldn't be used.  That has got to be the funniest f'n email I've ever gotten.

Goatwhore rules!!!

My old band Satan's Black Dick didn't make the list.

I always wanted a double bill with chick-metal band Insane Clown Pussy, but no such band existed.

What kind of biatchy coont would ban words, anyway? Fark that shiat.

Agreed,  It was the only Radio station I would listen to back in HS (late 90's)  everything else on the stations I could get was
A)Spin doctors, Blues Traveler and Dave Mathews, (Damn you WPST)
B)Oldies (my parents listened to NJ 101.5 Religeously)
C)Phish, Grateful Dead, and other Hippy Crap. (other college radio stations)

The Live shows that WSOU would sponsor were also fun events,  Learned to Mosh at one as a baby metal head.

/my parents taste in Music used to be good, my Dad Proposed to my mom at a Led Zepplin Concert
//Then they "grew up" and started listening to Motown and Jazz NTTAWWT
///Slashies come in threes.

"mentioning Nickleback and/or Justin Bieber will result in a DJ's immediate termination"

... may be okay with this ...
