So, he's going to submit a bill banning abortion and prohibiting gays from being gay in public?

So here's a question, that whole "focus like a laser beam" thing. Is that a conservative turn of phrase, because I only seem to get it from the most closed-minded, dogmatic conservative trolls.

All I know is that the stimulus was a giant failure. Government spending doesn't create jobs.

Now get to work on the budget, Obummer, but don't you dare cut defense spending, otherwise thousands of people will lose their jobs.

I believe it was used to mock the Tea Party/GOP, who ran in 2010 on a "JOBS! JOBS! JOBS!" platform, but, once in office, spent all their time writing bills keeping women in the kitchen, continuously birthing babies, and trying to repeal Obamacare like 30 times.

President blackness is proportional to # of jobs government can't create, isn't it obvious Libs?

I'm not sure about all that, but I'll bet we hear a lot about forcing women to have ultrasound wands shoved up their whorey parts.

I hope he comes up with proposals to keep the housing market on an improved path. So many jobs and so much individual wealth is tied up in housing that it's a key piece to full recovery.

There's not really much the government can do about that other than keep a close eye on inflation which would cause interest rates to go up. The news for housing has been quite good the past 6 months or so and, considering my wife is a real estate agent, I am also hopeful for continued improvement.

Even Arizonas gov. said Obamacare is a job creator. Huh?

I hope 0blahma has the same dedication to job creation that the House has since being swept into the Majority in 2010.

We need to make sure these jobs are worthwhile.  We should not create ten million fast food jobs that produce nothing and call it a success - we need to focus on real, productive jobs.

I'll be sure to tell that to the teachers, firemen, policemen, sewage workers, and so forth.

And I assume all the transport ways the government had nothing to do with the westward expansion, nor was the homestead act responsible for the towns and cities that grew up in the west.

We should not be beholden to one sector of the economy.

What's the point in building when you don't have anyone making enough to buy a house.

Private manufacturing sector engineer here. The ARRA absolutely created a job that kept me above water financially until the aerospace market started coming back last year.

There might be an argument that the jobs the government creates aren't particularly good jobs, but only MattStafford seems to be pointing out that part

They had that home buyer tax rebate program early in the recession where first-time buyers got $8,000 and existing homeowners received $6,500. The housing market was crashing at the time and unemployment was rising. A time of great uncertainty about where the economy was headed.

Now, with things on the uptick, including the housing market, that sort of boost might make a big difference. But it's federal stimulus spending and there doesn't seem to be much taste for that in Congress.

I'm just saying if we are going to go down the path of job creation through federal action that might be a huge difference maker.

Well, I think it would just be wise for Obama to keep his hands off the mortgage tax deduction as one of the 'loopholes' he wants to close in pursuit of higher revenues. No one-time deduction would make up for that loss. Anyway, I think the housing market has some momentum on its own. I'd prefer a modest speed of improvement anyway.

Well, focused like a laser beam would imply extremely low divergence and a single coherent frequency (in the Republican's case, the resonant frequency seems to be "tax cuts"), so it's a term that fits pretty well with how they operate... but it didn't originate with the current discussion on jerbs, it's been around about as long as the general population has known anything about lasers.

pretty sure it's meant to talk about the focus a laser has out of the box. A beam of light focused over a small area.

I certainly hope foreclosures go way down. But as far a recovery, to what point? Housing prices got way too high, it was a major quality of life issue. I don't want to return to that.

Did you not read my whole post? I know it was 3 whole sentences, so I apologize. If you slog through it all, you'll notice I was pointing out the contradiction between conservative stances on job creation: 1) Government doesn't create jobs, which is why everyone on the right was decrying the stimulus, which improved our decaying infrastructure and is much needed. 2) We need to keep needless defense spending because it creates jobs.

I'll try to simplify my posts in the future.

vernonFL: For the umpteenth time:

Yeah, I remember Mitt Romney chanting that in the second debate - right before his closing remarks promising that his administration would create five million job.

So, to conclude, the government does not create job. Except defense jobs, research jobs, administrative jobs, and so on. And those employed people going to make purchases, which create demand, which create more jobs. But, the important take-away here is that the government does NOT create jobs. And no one ever looked stupid saying that. Not ever. Really.

That trend has already been underway for a while. Here's some news on it from almost a year ago already: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-05-17/foreclosures-plunge-to-five- y ear-low-in-u-s-recovery-mortgages.html

Here's another site that doesn't have final 2012 numbers, but indicates that 2012 saw about a 40% drop from 2011 in foreclosures: http://www.statisticbrain.com/home-foreclosure-statistics/

Took long enough, but things do appear to be moving in the right direction.

And optical lense would cause it to lose coherency but a concaved reflective lense would allow for the retention of coherency and allow for greater power density whithin 2X of its focal point..
