Good one, although I'd also submit Promised Land.  "I Am I"---> "Damaged."

wiredroach: Led Zeppelin IV - "Black Dog" and "Rock and Roll" seems like a pretty obvious one.

Tom Waits' Early Years Vol. 2 leads off with "Hope That I Don't Fall In Love With You" and "Ol' 55." That's a pretty good start.

Beatles' Revolver - "Taxman" and "Eleanor Rigby"

Oh, I forgot Tom Waits.

I like "Nighthawks at the Diner" with Emotional Weather Report, On a Foggy Night, and Eggs and Sausage.

Nice choices overall.

I liked the two opening tracks on Jenny Lewis's Rabbit Fur Coat.

I like everything Jenny Lewis does, although her work on Jenny and Johnny is definitely not up to her usual standard set during her Rilo Kiley and solo days.

Elvis Costello, "My Aim Is True":
"Welcome to the Working Week" -> "Miracle Man"

"More Than a Feeling" -> "Peace of Mind"

More than a feeling is not the first song on the albulm. :-(

Foreplay -> Long Time.

I have an idea.

For now on, every time a list is written on the internet by some hack writer, the clause "THAT I KNOW ABOUT" must be appended to it to excuse the writer's rank ignorance and self-serving myopia.

Def Leppard - Pyromania

grouchy pants: Radiohead, The Bends

Planet Telex > The Bends

I'd be more inclined to go Airbag -> Paranoid Android from OK Computer for Radiohead.

Love that someone in the article included that Bloc Party album.  First one I thought of, besides some of the obvious classics.

I still give the overall edge to OK Computer with "Airbag" followed by "Paranoid Android". I never thought the actual song "The Bends" was that great.

The Warning had a few good songs but overall IMO it wasn't one of their best.  I'm probably weird in that I think Promised Land is better.  And Rage For Order had a great one-two punch too, "Walk In The Shadows"---> "I Dream In Infrared."  Everything after Promised Land blew goats though and now they're a huge train wreck.  Sad.

The Bends has always been my favourite of the two albums, either because I like to root for the underdog, or because of the shiatloads I went through when it first came out. Probably both. Duly noted, though. I don't disagree.

/Listened to Silent Alarm literally 30 minutes before opening Fark, thought to myself, damn that's an opening...
/Saw Bloc Party live in October, still reeling

Superbeast and Dragula?  or does the Call of the Zombie intro count as the first "real" track?

Was always fond of The Cult's Sun King leading right into Fire Woman

For entire albums, I prefer listening to The Bends, but I don't think the first two are as good as the OK Computer first two.
