I wish these dumbass pranksters would put the "swatting" to good use, like calling them on politicians, DEA agents, police chiefs, etc. You know, the ones that usually love military style action on civilian homes.

That's what I was thinking.  Watching SWAT breach the homes of guys who signed off on drone strikes against American citizens would be some quality TV.

/I'd feel bad for any pets or undocumented maids they shot

And the lesson people SHOULD be learning, that it's probably not a good idea to send heavily armed commandos on home invasion raids based on little to no information, will be lost in the derpstorm.

So he used a service for deaf people to claim he heard gunshots?  (I know that is not how things work, but it is still amusing).

"Ah needs mah gun tah dafend mah home! Wut if bad guys with guns show up at mah dur?"

Hears noises outside.  Grabs gun to check it out.

Meanwhile, the SWAT team sees a man brandishing a gun.

BLAM! BLAM!

Don't think it could happen?  This is the LAPD.  They fatally shot a guy at a Halloween party who was dressed as a cop and had a toy gun.

You fool. If they don't do these unnecessary raids, then the money for these unneceessary raids for next year will dry up. And if that happens, who is going to shoot the family pets as they run away, or handcuff grandma for several hours while she's interrogated over the contents of her Williams Sonoma box that she CLAIMS is merely a potato masher and a cast iron pot, but is CLEARLY four nuclear bombs that she purchased from Zombie Osama Bin Laden?

I swear, sometimes its like Farkers don't even think at all! The answer is MORE poorly planned out military style raids on innocent civilians, not less.

 They LIVE together?

It's already happened. Old woman down in Florida that some crooked cops shot dead a few years back when they raided the wrong house on bad information from an unreliable informant looking for a deal on his time. She thought someone was breaking in because they were plain clothes and started shooting at them so they returned fire and killed her, then planted evidence to try and cover their tracks.

You don't even need a toy gun. You just need to be driving a truck.

I recall that case, though for some reason I was thinking it was Atlanta.

There's also a guy in Louisiana who lived in a duplex.  Other half had a drug dealer.  Cops raided the place not realizing it was a duplex.  The guy shot and killed one of the cops, and was convicted of manslaughter.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you the race of the cop or the guy that was convicted.

From TFA: Police swarmed the property on October 3 after receiving an anonymous tip [...]

That was 4 months ago and they're just now reporting it?

Cops do love them some SWAT action. I remember a few years back, cops swarmed on my apartment complex. They thought some guy who had shot a cop was in the apartment below mine. So they surrounded it, guns out, evacuated the entire apartment complex, kept telling the suspect to give himself up, because he was surrounded. Eight hours later, they finally assault the place, only to discover the apartment was empty.

I read an article about that incident and no where was it mentioned that the cops apologized for their error. I suspect the owner will have to pay a fee to get the truck out of impound and the city will refuse to pay for any damages.

,,,allegedly prank calling police to report gunfire

...The fake distress calls were made through an electronic system called emergency teletext, the 911 alternative intended for deaf people.

*blink*

Shouldn't the police be investigating themselves for being morons here?

That said, what can you do to a 12 year old who pulls this kind of crap? Juvie?
