She looks pretty good for a "real person" on the far side of 50.

Nah, most crosswords use short words and common (i.e. low Scrabble value) letters, because each letter is used by two answers, and you have to make them fit.  So you see a lot more clues about Esai Morales and Mel Ott than Zamfir, Master of the Pan Flute.

This is not such a good idea. The Pritzker family is so pro-China and has so many investments there that her appointment would signal more off-shoring jobs and provide support for attempts to have a tax holiday for repatriation of China profits. This is where Obama should pick a Liberal.

Lady Beryl Ersatz-Wendigo: Wasn't she a character in Hairspray?

Nope. She's more like Leona Helmsley. She treats her workers like crap.

No she was the sweet but amazingly dumb gal from McGyver

Sounds like a name Stan Lee would give one of his characters....

Is she the best person for the job or best friend of Obama's career?

Vectron: Is she the best person for the job or best friend of Obama's career?

The later.

If you want to know why this it is a laughably bad idea to appoint Penny Pritzker to anything in the Obama administration, given his stance on Wall Street and banks in general, go ahead and google "superior bank".

Great, hire someone from a family so rich she never actually had to work a day in her life to be Commerce Secretary.  Great.

You do not want this Anti Union ballbuster any where near the Labor Department.

I have never met her, nor have a read anything other than this about her. But given the wealth behind the Pritzker family in Chicago, there is no way to describe her as a "real person."

This thread summarized her quickly. She comes from a big-money family who have shown themselves to be unfriendly to organized labor. Meanwhile, she's from Chicago and was a big donor for Obama. Democrats and Republicans will both have reasons to dislike her, which in this case, does not mean you're doing it right.

She was his national campaign finance chair in 2008 as well.  This is an attempted payment to her for the work she did.

Her family is worth several billion dollars.  She's a "real person" in the same way that I'm Gretta Garbo.

The Pritzker's are a pretty messed up family outside of their politics.  I'm not too thrilled about this choice.

Oh for fark's sake.  Can't she just keep her hobby of fricking up my high school and be done with it?

Also, Ben is a prick.
