To be fair, who defends the white guy anyway?

So whose going to be number one now?

Who cares?  Hasn't this season more than pretty much all the others proven how worthless ranking the teams is?

Yeah I think the #1 team has now lost 7 straight weeks in a row.  But that's fine by me, I like this parity in college basketball.  And I do think the rankings have some value, but you have to  give them a range.   Like all of the top 5 teams are more or less equal, then the next 5, etc.  There's clearly very little separation between 1 and 2, 3 and 4, etc.

In all likely hood, it will be the wolverines.  Florida lost handily and that win over OSU was impressive.  Caught the last five minutes of this game at the gym, felt weird because apparently nobody else thought it was exciting.

Can't wait for the next two weeks of MSU's schedule: Indiana, OSU, and UoM twice.  Their RPI is going to surge.

As bad as it was, the play on the other end of the floor right before it was just as bad.

Indiana has the ball in a tied game...with 5 seconds left. And lose. In regulation.

That wasn't as bad as the guy stealing the lob pass in the backcourt in the Lakers-Celtics game last night

I think you're confusing access with quality of contribution. As an Indiana native I've spent enough time reading what some might call "thoughts" of my fellow Hoosiers on IndyStar.com, StarPress.com, etc. No, the real problem is having something to say that that can't be summarized by "herp" or "derp"...and that's never stopped folks from other places from posting on Fark!

Michigan if they win in Madison this weekend (which is no sure thing), otherwise probably Duke again.

Even if Michigan gets to #1 again, they play in East Lansing next week, which is another tough one.

If I was Zeller/whooever the other Indiana player was who got tied up in that scrum, I'd just have fallen down instead of standing there like a jackass watching the layup. Save myself a little face.

I thought for sure discourse would improve when "real names" were involved once Gannet started requiring Facebook integration for commenting.

Bloomingtucky? Are there people other than Purdue fans that call it that? I'm not in any way an IU guy. Hell, I'm in school at UK.  Still, aside from traffic, Bloomington is a pretty cool place. Decent bars, nice variety of ethnic restaurants considering the city's size, walkable downtown and the women are not so bad. Maybe the outlying areas of Monroe County would be deserving of the -tucky suffix, but if we're going to say Bloomingtucky, we might as well say Carmelachia while we're at it.

Yes, because he left the lane...either because they were switching on the play (Coaching Error) or Zeller left the paint (Player error).

Either way...epic disaster...your big man doesn't leave the diagonal area from the inbounds EVAR.

I just watched it again...and Zeller didn't have him, Watford did.

And I'm more convinced it's a coaching error...they were purposefully switching on the play....with no base under the lane...Zeller leaves the lane immediately.

Crean isn't always the brightest on this end of game stuff.  He's the same guy who had Zeller on the bench and Hulls on the floor for the last play against Butler where Butler then did an iso for a walk-on against Hulls, because Hulls couldn't guard a folding chair.

I just moved to Champaign for grad school and didn't realize how big college bball is here.  I was never a big college hoops fan (went to VT for undergrad) and didn't even know this game was going on last night until I got caught in the traffic trying to run some errands.  Glad to see they got the win though and hopefully they will stop sucking in conference.

Dude, have you seen Illini football? They couldn't win in a D-3 conference. Bad. Chronically bad. Illini buckets on the other hand have remained relatively competitive through the years with an occasional bump in the road. Basketball is all Champaign has going for it.

/one of the reasons for my apathy towards college football has been the sorry state of CFB in the state of Illinois
//Northwestern has clawed its way back into respectability though

That's called a zone. The issue with zones is that it makes it stupid easy to create three point opportunities on the parameter and create offensive mismatches. If it was a zone DJ Richardson would have taken the last shot and likely made it.

Instead Crean decided to dare the Illini to try and create the mismatch by using motion. Zeller failed to recognize the switch.

You need to learn to read. I responded to someone who said "Park Zeller under the basket" with an explanation that to do that you would need to run a zone and why that would be a bad idea. Perhaps you should just go back to just being happy that you're no longer the dumbest school in the Big Ten now that Nebraska joined up. The man-to-man help defense failed spectacularly because your player bit on DJ Richardson in the corner and no one was responsible for the four. Zeller ended up just looking like a dunce watching Griffey run to the rim since, yes, that was his man after the switch. The game getting to the point it did was a complete coaching error, though. Zeller did not touch the ball enough after Egwu fouled out. Griffey isn't strong enough to take Zeller, and McLaurin is a transfer from a D-II school.
