Too far?  Or not far enough.

Given that the zombie Nerf war got cancelled due to weather...

NOT FAR ENOUGH.

I like zombie stuff, but yeah, that is a bit too far and stupid.

The girl of my dreams would probably give me a zombie teddy bear for Valentines Day. So yeah.

I'm a tried-and-true zombie fan but this is farking ridiculous.  It's one thing to like zombie movies and stories--what's not to like about mindless, nearly invulnerable killing machines that can instantly swell their ranks as they deplete yours?  But teddy bears, rom-coms, Pride and Prejudice and Zombies...just stop it already.

Hate on the over use of zombies in pop-culture all you want, but that's a great Valentine's Day gift idea.

People are finding new ways to tell zombie stories instead of the usual (and completely overdone) survival story (either people are banding together for survival, or it turns out the real monsters are other jackass humans).  I'd rather they get cute with it than just try to copy Romero over and over again.

zombies are cool what can I say

Wait. You mean, someone took a normal, everyday item, and combined it with...zombies? How kooky and unexpected!

Oddly enough, I got the lady a zombie teddy bear Valentine card that I found on Etsy. If I could get one of the actual zombie bears I absolutely would, 'cause she'd love it.

New and interesting ways to tell the story is fine, and welcome.  When the main idea goes from horror right out of nightmares, to cute and harmless, then it's no longer the same idea.  That's the difference - cute and harmless. If you neuter everything frightening about Horror Thing X, then it no longer functions for what it is.

Zombies are popular now, and kitschy things will be produced.  Kitsch should not become the norm, however, and definitely should not replace the original intent.  When someone writes the zombie version of Twilight, you will understand.

That reminds me, I should work on my manuscript for Zombie Twilight.  It will be a veiled Catholic story, not a veiled Mormon story.  Money in the bank!

Yeah, except Warm Bodies was actually a pretty good zombie movie.

Sparkle vampires didn't replace horror vampires anymore than Ann Rice's romanticized version of vampires replaced them, or Anita Blake's version, etc.  Kitsch is a fad, and the fads never replace the original intent, they fade away.

In your veiled Catholic Zombie Twilight story you should name the romantic interest Lazarus.

The wiki makes it sound interesting, but then "monster becoming human again" is a compelling story.  It's when the monster is not a monster to begin with, that's my contention - all the advantages of the monster, none of the disadvantages.

I'm betting it'll be trolls, I was trying to add tags to a short story I wrote and the number of different troll related tags were stunning.
