Ok. My four year old self would find that to be the most awesome thing on the planet. I used to draw cars and airplanes all the time when I was that age (and I grew up to be an engineer, how 'bout that?).

The fact that it was BMW, a company from Germany usually perceived as humorless with insane attention to detail and technical prowess, makes this even better.

My four year old self would have as well, and I grew up to be an automotive journalist. (At least, I think I am between bowls of ramen)

I always thought the triple-wheel system was visually cool but kinda stupid, because you can really only get one flat and still keep going.

I'm not sure how the multiple drivers would work. They're supposed to steer in unison? Or is it that one guy has the accelerator, one guy has the steering wheel, and one guy has the brakes?

First thing I thought of.

2013-02-07 01:47:01 PM
It's less ugly than any Bangle styled BMW.

CSB: Just after the Z4 was launched I saw one on the road. I then did a double take and noticed it was actually a Z3 that had been in an accident and the side smashed in. That is what BMWs of the noughties looked like, older BMWs that had been bashed with big hammers.

/I think the reason they look terrible is they are styling for stylings sake. Good car design is finctional, features are there for a (possibly perceived) need. The basic shape is dictated by the need for wheels, windows, doors, lights etc and details are dictated by door handles, air vents etc. Good styling looks like it is linking features that need to be there, like an attractive body is merely covering muscles and bones that are underneath.
Bangle's styling is just lots of shapes, curves and lines that are just randomly there. There is no functionality to them. They look contrives and therefore ugly.
Very, very, ugly.

Bike tires.

I think they meant 3 per side, 6 per axle = 42 tires. But yeah, not enough room.

Mine is a 93 318is, and despite being the budget bimmer of its day, I love the sucker. The 46s look bloated to me, and the 90s evenworse. I shouldn't have to look at a 1 series to get the same compactness and feel I like from the old 3 series. That's not to mention the price tag on the new ones!

it's true that the 3-series has kept growing and is now no longer a true compact. i do love my E90, though. and i like the new one too.

but give me an '80s E30 and i'll be very happy.

So styling for styling sake is ugly?

I'm guessing you wear all black or white, plain clothes. Your car is all black or white. You don't own anything of interest or culture?

Guessing you don't appreciate art either?
