Even if they turn it around and claw their way into the playoffs, the current iteration of the Lakers is burnt, finished and in the way of whatever's going to be next.

I'll tune into the first round match ups between Golden State vs Denver or Indiana vs Atlanta to hear about the Lakers.

It might be interesting to see if the Warriors can give up 150 points in regulation.

Looks like Colangelo and the Raptors will have to wait to trade for him until after they miss the playoffs again this year. Maybe if the Lakers continue crapping out they'll package Nash in the deal then too. Either way, looks like Rudy Gay is finding out the hard way how the refs and opposing players just don't respect the Raps. Maybe next year.

It'll be a tough 6 weeks of not seeing him cry for a foul every time he misses a shot

6 weeks my arse.  That kind of injury never heals fully, and those that get it are at high risk for more of the same.

Frankly at this point, the Lakers are better off trading Kobe. Dwight Howard isn't worth shiat, and with Pau's injury reducing his trade value to nil, they may as well move Kobe somewhere else for draft picks and begin the rebuild.

Pity Kobe has one of the only two or three no-trade clauses in the NBA...

Straight-up no-trade, or just veto power over trades?

Kobe, Dirk, Garnett.

Full no trade clause. Meaning they cannot trade him at all without his permission.  The only way the Lakers could get rid of Kobe without his okay would be to amnesty him.
