Description: Neon lights-not just neon colors.

We ask that before submitting your photos you read and adhere to the following submission rules, including but not limited to the following:
- Submissions must be photographs; screen captures do not count as photographs.
- You must be the original photographer of your entry. Do not submit anyone else's photography as your own.
- You are only allowed to enter a photograph once. Do not submit the same photo to another contest later.
- You may enter 3 photos in each contest as long as each photo is of a different composition.
- Please post each photo separately so they can be voted for individually.

Please note:
The overarching ideal behind Farktography is that image corrections are acceptable, while adding or removing elements in the image (e.g. removing telephone poles, adding Elvis) is not acceptable. HDR, stitching, or otherwise combining exposures in post processing are not allowed unless specified for a particular theme (multiple exposures done in-camera are acceptable, however). See the rules for more information on acceptable modifications, or check in at the Farktography Forums.

This is a (locally) famous 1940s sign from the ice cream parlor in my neighborhood that celebrated its 70th anniversary last year.  It's the 1940s version of an "animated" neon sign, in that the figure flips his arm up to toss the scoop of ice cream from his scooper through the air, and it lands in the cone.  Over and over and over and over and over.  And oh, yeah, the ice cream at the place is pretty damn good too!

I took this in the old section of Havana, Cuba.  Like much else there, it of course has not functioned in decades:

Smeared Neon


Years ago, I was standing in a long line at Disneyword. There were long blue neon lights on the wall and I had an Elph P&S. I set the ISO low and did a quick wrist turn during exposure. It was one of the first times I got the courage to do something odd with my camera in public. Since that time, odd has become sort of normal. :)
