Ready-set: The Bestest: JolobinSmokin: Is the voice of archer bob from burgers?

Too lazy to typ

Archer, Bob, Coach McGurk, Satan (Lucy, daughter of the Devil), The Master (Venture Bros), the store clerk from Family Guy, crapton of others

And Ben from the great Dr. Katz. Love that damn show. It made even Ray Romano funny.

Toshiro Mifune's Letter Opener:
Still, I don't get Gary Busey and Nick Nolte confused, so I give myself points for that.

CSB:

I worked at an amusement park during high school (~20 years ago) and one day there was a clamor outside our building. People were saying that Nick Nolte was walking around. It was actually Gary Busey. I followed him and his friend from a distance, and when they stopped at a map, I walked up and asked if I could help them find anything (which was SOP for any "guest" looking at a map, but this was the only time I ever actually did it). I never acknowledged that I knew who he was, and he politely said "No, we're OK."

May not be much, but I can say I've talked to Gary Busey. And seen firsthand how people don't know the difference between Gary Busey and Nick Nolte.

Archer would suck a whole lot less if the identical voice wasn't used in what, a 1/2 dozen other cartoons? Way to put in zero effort.

phattybeefpatty: Sorry. I'm usually with Fark on a lot of entertainment things. I just CANNOT get in to Bob's Burgers for some reason. I can't figure out why. All I know is that it frightens me on many levels that my wife and the Fark collective actually agree on something. I'm not trying to be edgy or cool by not liking it. I just don't laugh at it and it bugs me feeling like I'm missing something goddamnit. Archer rules though, hands down!

I just watched the first three episodes of Bob's Burgers tonight for the first time.  The cultural references are funny (especially the Shining bar scene when Bob gets 'stuck' between the walls) but overall it didn't really work.  I just found a number of the characters annoying and distracted from the everything else that was gone on.

Not at all, but his inability to do more than one voice has ruined Bob's Burgers and Home Movies for me.

I love having him show up as the necromancer's spirit guide on Venture Bros.  There's nothing like Archer saying, "I can lick my own balls!"

It's a conundrum.

I will definitely watch it but I found the Halloween special seemed like it was phoned in. For so long of a time off they could have come up with something better.
Re Archer and Bobs Burgers a buddy at work and I watch them both religiously and have found that we are starting to prefer Bob's over Archer. We're not sure why but it may be the fact there was such a long hiatus with Archer that we started putting it on a pedestal and when it came back it didn't live up to our expectations.  However we are still watching it.

It's like the guy who did the voice of "Spike" for the dub of Cowboy Bebop. He only does THAT voice. So everyone, including the Toonami robot at the time, is Spike.

This make bad shows better, I'll give it that.

While I can't deny that he's funny, it would be nice if he'd change up his voice between characters on occasion.

Nah, not much of a hipster,  don't watch much in the way of TV myself. Mostly just see what my kid watches and Doctor Who, Warehouse 13, Lost Girl, and a few other shows, but I end up watching them online. Reality TV can go blow goats.

Just now watching Archer because I don't have much faith in the vast majority of TV programming. If it's good it usually ends up getting cancelled, so I don't go watching many new shows. I'll typically end up watching it after it's been on a few seasons then catching up with old shows on Netflix, Hulu, torrents or what have you and then watching it as it comes on TV after I've caught up.

Also, general taste trends on Fark tend to suck.

Also, what I really get a kick out of is the office humor, paraphrasing here:
Krieger: "Oh damnit, I didn't spend the rest of my flex account!!!"
Pam: "Oh...wait, were you calendar year or start date?"
Krieger: "CALENDAR YEAR!!!!!!"

Listen to the Thrilling Adventure podcast and you'll actually get a really good sense of his range.  Specifically, find the Tales from the Black Lagoon episodes where he voices Jay Silverheels (the actor who played Tonto on the Lone Ranger TV show).

Huh... ain't that somethin'?  To me, the difference between the two is night and day, practically.

I'd like to know where the whole Nolte/Busey confusion thing originated from, because it's a mistake that a LOT of people make.

phattybeefpatty: wingnut396: AdolfOliverPanties: I tried to watch Bob's Burgers, but two things killed it for me:

One, the pilot episode was terrible.  Boring and not funny.

Two, H Jon Benjamin using the same EXACT voice for Bob as he does for Archer.

Reason number one is far more important, and I have read people raving about the show, so maybe one day I'll give it another chance.

Fark helped me with that.

I approach it as either one of two ways.

1.  Bob is Archer, after he has washed up and ran through all of Mallory's money.  This is all he has left, and its payback time.

2. Archer is Bob's fantasy alter-ego.  He imagines himself on these missions while he is flipping burgers to distract himself from his insane kids.  So he has insane coworkers.

Sorry. I'm usually with Fark on a lot of entertainment things. I just CANNOT get in to Bob's Burgers for some reason. I can't figure out why. Jake the Dog was practically identical to Bender when Adventure Time started, but the voice has evolved into something unique since then.

Actually, if you listen to a side-by-side comparison, Archer is almost an octave higher than most of his characters (due to being younger than most of the characters he voices). They just sound the same because it's still H. Jon Benjamin, but he does put more effort into the Archer part.

He's said before that playing Archer puts strain on his voice, so he has to pace his recording sessions out to keep from straining his vocal cords.
