I wish the public gave these DUI guys a lot more scorn than the PED users. PEDs make you a cheater and can harm the individual but DUIs can hurt or kill other people. I'm tired of hearing the poor judgment bullshiat excuses, hire a car service.

Todd Helton's careers is almost over because he no longer hit many homerun. No longer have high batter average. And Runs Bat In very low.

This!

Listening to the radio today Colin Cowheard said that Suh should be one of the most disliked players in the NFL. Just weeks after Jay Ratliff gets arrested. He only lost a teammate a month earlier because of drunk driving.

The numbers for his BAC were considered to be inflated due to the effect of Coors.

Colin Cowherd says a lot of things, and should generally be ignored and/or laughed at. Because he is a farking blowhard.

Not sure if troll or just stupid.

Sounds to me like he drank two beers then headed to the Stop 'n' Go for some celery and a can of fake snow.

Fine him and send him on his way, no blood, no foul.

I am really starting to wonder if I am just an amazing piece of shiat because, well, I simply don't give a fark about a DUI unless someone gets hurt. .08?

.08?!

But, yet, I seem to be the only one that isn't completely up in arms over a DUI and I am not being snarky.

Would you be upset at someone waving around a loaded gun in a crowd even if it didn't go off?

And I think analogies like that are where my disconnect comes in. I mean, I get it the argument, I swear I do.  Perhaps I have been bartending and owning bars for way too long. To say I've seen ten thousand drunk drivers would not be an unfair guess and not a farking one of them "WIPED OUT A FAMILY OF FIVE!!!!!!" like we all want to believe happens when people get behind the wheel over the legal limit.

I know it's anecdotal, but I'll also say that I swear that the NTSB and MAAD are probably either a) just as farking anecdotal as me or b) lying out their ass about stats.

Yeah, not a popular argument, I know.

Did you read the article?

He's out at 2am, driving his truck erratically. He wasn't even spotted by cops - this was called in by other drivers. Helton can't even keep his eyes open during the mugshot.

It's one thing to have a couple of beers and be able to keep your wits about you behind the wheel. This seems to be a whole other deal. I think driving is fairly easy and if you can't keep your vehicle straight on the road to the point where other drivers are calling the cops on you, then you're pretty jacked up.

And when you're a pro athlete, why take the risk? Many pro teams provide car services for players at their own expense. And if not, I'm sure Helton can spare some cash to call a cab or pay someone to drive for him.

For the record, I see what you're saying here. People handle their alcohol differently and .08 to one person is different for another. I wasn't trying to be over dramatic in my original post, that was more of a shot at the widespread attention PED use gets more than anything.

What bugs me though is how a lot of people just can't seem to gauge their tolerance when they've been drinking or how they seem to have this bulletproof mentality when they've had a few too many. Especially when you're a pro athlete and have mostly anything you want at your fingertips with a phone call. I get that college aged students and younger pros can make mistakes, but when you're Todd Helton at age 39 you just have to know better.

Why was he in such a BunfarkEgypt part of Denver? There's no way he lives up there. Is there some super incognito brothel up there?

The DUI part notwithstanding (because that pretty much makes Helton a supreme dick), what makes the mugshot "Farked up?"

I've seen "farked up" mugshots, and that one isn't even close. Doughy baseball player with a 5 o'clock shadow doesn't compare to neck tattoos or "resisting arrest" beat downs. This mugshot doesn't even come close to Nick Nolte territory.

Yeah, I've lived in Denver off-and-on for some 40 years and I think I've had occasion to go to Thorton like maybe five times.

/I'm going with the brothel thing

When people say they should "probably know better at that age" I think they forget that the whole point is alcohol inhibits judgement. A buddy of mine bought a breathalyzer. We sat around watching TV one night while drinking and checking our BAC every 30 minutes. My girlfriend would write down the readings but wouldn't tell us what they were. Before measuring each time, we'd honestly say whether we felt good enough to drive still.

The result was pretty interesting-- both my friend and I first said we didn't feel like we could drive while we were still just barely below .08. So that's good. But as we continued drinking and taking the test over the course of the evening, we both went back to "yes" toward the end of the night, with the rationale that it had been a while, we were probably sobering up, and by this point we could certainly drive again. Those readings were just over .12 if I recall correctly. They weren't the highest readings of the night by any stretch.

What I think happened was that going from sober to drunk we were aware of the negative change in our sobriety and were better suited to make a judgement on just how drunk we were relative to being sober. But after reaching our drunkest point and starting to come back down, we lost the ability to gauge how sober we were because the reference point was complete drunkenness; we weren't there any longer, so we must be sober enough to drive.

Yes. He lives (or at least owns/owned a home) up in Thornton/Brighton...depending on what map you consult.

Thornton sucks as a rule, but I guess some parts of the North East side aren't too bad. Helton's basically a Tennesse redneck with too much money anyways, he fits right in.
