I wonder if anyone has ever done a study showing that a state of perpetual anger leads to increased cancer risk?

The tea party displayed the ugly thoughts that Republicans already had but decided to keep in the closet.
While the party name will change, the people will not and they will soon have a new organization if they are smart enough to let go of the current one.

While that would bring some much-needed tolerance and class to the Tea Party brand, it still has a way to go before it would be acceptable to the rational world.

The Tea Party brand has been effectively destroyed. After three years of demonizing the Tea Party as 'racist,' 'extremist,' and 'radical,'the brand has become a cancer

Yes, it was the democrats fault that the name was tainted.  Not at all that they promised jobs, jobs, jobs, a repeal of obamacare, and fiscal responsibility and instead passed 0 jobs bills (record number penis-goes-where bills), obamacare is strong, and did nothing to solve any fiscal problems (actually created more problems through their obstructionism).

/Party of Personal Responsibility everyone.

And all this bellyaching and intra-party struggle means nothing if they can't kick the crazies out of office. Which, increasingly, they can't, as these districts are now gerrymandered to favor crazy. Thus, the GOP may retain House majorities in the next few elections, but there will be more and more of the "Democrats + 80 Republicans" bills passed. Boehner may hate him some libs, but he likes his job more, and there's hay to be made in pleasing the Establishment (where none can be made with the Teatards).

Enjoy the stink of Tea, GOP.

A name change isn't going to help them. People aren't stupid. If some old white dudes are standing around with racist, misspelled signs, America is going to hate them no matter what they call themselves.

Everybody knows the most effective way to battle cancer is to change its name!

"Well, our policies and candidates are spot on, why don't we just change our name."

Start over with a new name and a more effective 'branding' and public awareness campaign.  Please!

Do that as often as you feel is necessary.

The same shiat in the package will cause the same net results.

On OkCupid there was a profile from a femaleTea Partier who would only date men in the Tea Party.  She had a long lists of requirements for a man, none of which were optional because she wasn't willing to compromise in her love life.  Any potential mate must not only be active in the Tea Party, but be also be a skilled ballroom dancer AND be financially independent and not have to work so he could take her around the world to ballroom dancing competitions.

She's a catch, boys, don't waste any time because she'll be snatched up any minute now...

Sarah Palin, people who can't spell particularly well, racists, birthers, Oily Taint, out-of-touch people who don't know what "teabagging" is, "Joe" the "Plumber", fat people welded to their Hoverounds, and attention whores who like to conspicuously tote their guns with them everywhere are the cancer that's killing the Tea Party. Actually, since that's pretty much the makeup of the Tea Party, I'd have to say that the Tea Party doesn't cause cancer, it is a cancer.

2013-02-06 11:28:31 AM
Go for it.

It's not like there is a massive, distributed, worldwide network dedicated to data sharing and information dissemination that could cause any such rebrand to be as effective as pissing in the wind.

This.  This right here.

You make yourself the party of "fiscal responsibility", then advocated not paying our bills, defaulting on the country's obligations, and focused most of your political capital on socially conservative policies like gay marriage, abortion, and creationism.  You called our president a "snob" for advocating the opportunity for higher education for everyone (college or not), and you continue to facts and education as evil tools of liberal academia.

This is what killed your brand.  Had you stayed focused on fiscal responsibility (while actually, you know, paying our bills), and you might have worked as force.  Would have been a stagnant, austerity-laden force that dampened our economy for the next 20 years, but at least you'd have your principles to stand on.

The democrats just let you talk and hang yourself.  They didn't need to do a thing.

no shiat.

and the only reason they're better known is, the media gives them equal time in the name of "balance." back in the day, the media knew the john birchers were kooks, and they didn't give them any ink or airtime. today, you have to have every racist, homophobe and wingnut on, lest fox news call you "liberal."

You're mistaking "worked up over" with "ridiculing" them.

It's a common mistake among folks who think the Teabaggers are anything more than a group of useful idiots for the GOP.

Changing a name. Rebranding. Repositioning. Distancing. Because you might just as well call yourself "WE F***ED UP AND WE HAVE TO RUN FROM OUR PAST RECORD."

The only name I can think of that failed through no fault of their own is Ayds.
