I love this so much. Subby, they didn't just "blow the suspension".

The most important thing to do with stunt jumps is to balance the center of gravity of the vehicle. If you don't know what that means, you're not smart enough to be doing stunt jumps.

I wish you could have been able to hear the Dukes of Hazzard chase music they surely had playing over their stereo.

It looks like the driver was hurt.  But I'm sure with advances in stem cell research and the fine work of Doctors Krinsky and Altschuler, he should regain full reproductive function again...

Well, that's one way to ruin a perfectly nice truck.

So THAT is why raptors are so expensive, because they fly. Assume the crashing is just standard for a Ford

It's a Drag 'N' Fly, like in an episode of the Dukes Of Hazzard!

He should have leaned over to balance it, right?

Don't forget the shape of the ramp.  A ramp shape that's not curved right will cause the rear suspension to make the vehicle flip over forward.

I dare say, I thought it was flying pretty good... for a stock truck.

I hope his insurance agent finds this clip online and denies coverage.

I'm pretty sure I saw the evidence of frame bend at that front, right corner, as well as the tailgate being popped out.  Not good signs.

Someone took the Raptor ads to an improper extreme, in that the people filming their ads know the limits and how to approach but not punch through them.

Excellent! Haven't seen anything that good since the Mud Drags of 2009. Guy and his girl friend flipped in his truck. Neither of them had seatbelts, much less safety harnesses and he had removed the airbags as "dangerous".

Well, its an overpriced F150, not an actual Baja Racer. NIce truck though. Was the redneck rescue squad rushing in a cold beer for him lol!

Completely bent the frame and its probably totaled.

I'm going to make a completely uneducated guess:  trashed suspension, damaged wheels and blown tires, broken motor mounts, engine damage, bent frame.  I'd imagine so.

Motorcross track ticket - $50
Destroying your truck because you're an idiot - PRICELESS

Do you mean his truck or his spine?

/yes either way

2013-02-06 05:55:23 PM
The driver is lucky that he didn't seriously injure his back from that.

The offroad race cars/trucks that are seen successfully making jumps like that have huge amounts of suspension travel (around 30 inches) which is why they can survive a landing like that, plus they're skin and bones so they weigh a lot less.

2013-02-06 06:21:50 PM

Befuddled: The driver is lucky that he didn't seriously injure his back from that.

The video posted in the thread from a different angle is also longer and shows the ambulance arriving and the driver staying in the vehicle for a long time while being comforted by people. I don't think he was as lucky as you think.

He should've used a Hilux.

That thing crashed hard enough to total it twice.

I hope our fearless pilot and copilot are OK.

Remember folks, those two idiots' brains kept moving at the same speed as the truck was...right into their craniums.

A set of Truck Nutz would've balanced that thing out nicely.

If you crash hard enough to deploy all your airbags, you're car is likely totaled.  The costs to replace the airbags, steering wheel, dash, side curtains, b-pillar, and all the other interior components ruined by airbag deployment are almost always enough to total a car.

Also, I don't know why, but the episode of Futurama where Fry is grabbed by the robot Pterosaur and yells "This is a cool way to diiiiiieee" popped in my head.

when will these idiots realize that $40k doesn't buy you a trophy truck, it buys you a really nice ford that can sorta go off-road.  Hell even a trophy has it's limits, but there's usually a team of mechanics that can repair it.
Good luck filing a warranty on that.

At least they turned their hazard lights on.

My Ex Girlfriend and her husband build and race these:

I can assure you than there is very little in the way of factory parts on these trucks, and I know for a fact that they cost more than $40K

Are you trying to tell me my Huffy Thunder Road bike from the 70s wasn't suited for BMX racing, too?
