I think I'm going to announce a run.  Just to see them waste money.  They were running ads against Charlie Crist during the DNC last fall, and he hasn't even indicated an interest in running for anything.

Fools and their money, as they say...

Well, like they say: "when all you have is a hammer, everything looks like a nail". The GOP doesn't have much popular support, party cohesion, or even a real agenda, but they do have lots and lots of money.

Wow they're terrified of her to be attacking her this early.

You mean "LIBS SUCK" isn't a real agenda?

I hope she runs. Even if she loses, it will be delicious to see the GOP panic and pour millions of dollars into the race that could be used far more effectively elsewhere.

Technically, "keeping homos, darkies, and wimmins in their place" is a real agenda.

I wonder how many conservatives would vote for her simply so they don't have to hear the palsy-like drawl and look at the melting face of McConnell.

I console myself with the idea that there is a parallel universe where, instead of being a bunch of obstructionist assholes with the sole agenda of reducing taxes on the wealthy, the Republicans actually proposed their own legislation which, once compromise was reached, was good for the majority of Americans.  In this fictional universe, they then ran on this success, were elected because of it, and America was a better place for it.

But when I try to work out the physics and math, I keep ending up dividing by zero.

Preemptive attack ads from the GOP now?

I thought they just did wars like that.

I'm guessing the guy who thought this one up lit up a cigar with a flaming 100 dollar bill before just before getting this brainstorm, possibly while twisting one of the ends of his outrageous mustache and cackling manically.

/Has anyone mentioned yet that AJ is a fine figure of a woman who is so sexy she makes ya want to have sex with her?
//That really should be noted.

There are rough parallels.  Invent an imaginary threat to cow and fleece the people.

Just out of curiosity though, how strong is the "We are Kentucky, dammit, not like those [insert appropriate term] from Tennessee!" attitude?

I know that there would be some general uproar if anyone did that saying "New Mexico is home" and they were running here in Texas.  I'm all for getting rid of the turtle, but if there's a strong regional "OUR STATE" attitude in KY, I can see this as being a first baby step in the direction of brilliance.

If she runs, I will temporarily suspend my political apathy and donate, if not volunteer, to her campaign. I don't know if she'll be good representation, but she'll have to be better than McConnell.

I love the fact that Ashley Judd has the Republican establishment panicking so early, but I'd like to point out, we're nearly two FARKING YEARS AWAY FROM THE GODDAMN ELECTION!!! Why did politics have to turn into a sport akin to Baseball or football?

The Democrats should adopt this as a policy for sure. In contested states they can start floating trials on a whole bunch of people and watch the GOP play whack-a-mole with the money mallet.

Any GOPer who gets all bent out of shape about which state she's from just needs a large serving of "Dick Cheney's sudden move to Wyoming in 2000" for dinner.

IMO it is a good ad. that said she now knows (if she didn't) what to expect and will have lots of time to counter it. also notice there were no specifics and i doubt there will be.

If Ashley were smart, and I know she is, she'd show how much of a U of L fan McConnell is.  I don't know if he is or not, but I do know he's been to the U of L football and basketball games.   Doing that alone would get most of the state to vote for her, and she wouldn't lose U of L fans, most Louisvillians hate McConnell anyways since he doesn't represent us at all, he's in the pocket of all the rich horse farmers outside of Lexington and John Schnatter.

If she does run, how soon before the Right has the brilliant idea to use her on-screen nudity (and overall sexiness) AGAINST her?

My bet is on the first week.

Great point.  McConnell has no fans here in Louisville so that approach would help.  I would think though that her TN residency would indeed be a problem.  That ad also cites a quote from her grandmother on the Daily Caller (lol).  I wonder how authentic that is.

There are better KY Democrats for the job, but I dunno any that could give McConnell a serious run in 2014.

Yarmuth could do it, but he's having to fight off a lot of DERP in the House right now, so I'm glad he's sticking there.

It should be fun when folks start complaining bitterly about entertainers going onto politics. Reagan, Schwarzenegger, and Ventura will probably be absent, or Palin's TV appearances, but I'll put good money on Al Franken's SNL bits will make news again.

I cannot wait. While I have seen of some of the movies she appeared naked in I know there are more. It will be nice when the GOP spends lots of time and money assembling a full list of all the films in which she shows off her birthday suit. It will make putting together my Netflix cue much easier.

I question attacking an opponent before she even becomes an opponent.  Makes them seem petulant and fearful.  Sure, that's they're MO, but they shouldn't want to appear that way.  Would be like branding Coke "overly expensive sugar water that will make you fat and destroy your teeth".

This kind of thing might scare off the Average Joe dipping his toe in the political pool, but a performer? Her life has already been ripped to shreds and served up in the tabloids - for over a decade. Rovian methods are nothing compared to TMZ. And they can't even write her off as "just a silly performer." She has a Master of Public Administration degree from Harvard.

This is going to be a fun fight.

OK, I thought I heard somewhere that she was thinking of challenging McConnell in the primary; this makes a little more sense, I suppose.

Still, anyone who would date Wesley Crusher shouldn't be allowed near the control consoles of government.
