Raise taxes to save Pussy? Only Republicans could say no to that.

No. Pets aren't people and people who value an animal's life over a human's need serious mental help, which should be paid for by a tax.

2013-02-06 10:11:57 AM
Depends on the cat.....

2013-02-06 10:12:51 AM
Maybe; though I would vote for a tax increase if it meant saving human lives. Single Payer Healthcare, specifically.

Nope.

No, absolutely not. At least around these parts, cats are a pest that destroy the native wildlife and upset the ecosystem.

I'd pay a tax to get rid of cats - at least the feral ones (pets can stay, as long as they are neutered, and let the species die out naturally).

That would be a tax decrease that would save human lives (cf basically every other developed nation for evidence this is the case)

I would vote for a squirrel bridge, not a cat shelter. There are plenty of Chinese restaurants in the area to take extra cats.

Even grumpy cat would say Yes to this.

No. The money should go towards declawing them.

That's true too, but even if it wasn't; I'd still be willing to pay more taxes so I wouldn't have to depend on a mind numbing corporate job for needed healthcare and could instead apply for any job that pays me enough to live on and isn't as mind numbing.

That was beautiful, man.

No, but I would support taxes to pay me a good salary to get rid of them.

Nah, no way.

Sure, as long as it can not reproduce. Same should be for humans that I support with tax dollars.

Raise taxes to save a cats life? No way. In fact, is there a way we can reverse the process, and lower taxes by killing more of them?

It is not like there is a shortage of cats.  I would vote no unless it was targeted at pet owners like a special tax on per food or increased fees for pet registration

2013-02-06 10:42:05 AM
Relax, folks.  There's already a solution to this problem.

\you can't spell 'catapult' without 'cat', can you?

2013-02-06 10:44:09 AM
No, simply because it's too damn inefficient. If I give $10 to a shelter then the shelter gets the full $10 (whether or not it's used wisely is another matter). If I give $10 to the government to give to the shelter then the shelter will end up with $6.50 (maybe) after 'government overhead' for 'program management' is accounted for. Government becomes an unnecessary middleman whose only contribution to the system is waste.

2013-02-06 10:45:50 AM
No. However, since I don't live anywhere near Florida, I did vote YES on the sidebar poll.

2013-02-06 10:46:21 AM
Yes.  The lives of pets, generally speaking, are not more valuable than those of humans, but given that irresponsible pet owners are a huge contributor to the "pet problem" then I see it as part of society's duty to try and alleviate the problem of too many unwanted pets.  Having everyone pay a tax (and I am thinking a very small one) to help feed shelter pets is, in my opinion, no different than people without children paying taxes to keep the schools running.

Simple - sales taxes on pets who aren't rescues.

Also higher registration fees on pets who aren't rescues.

Ha ha ha ha ha!!!

No.

I would pay a permit fee to be able to zap some of the feral cats we got running around here though.

Dogs, on the other hand?
Maybe.

Dickheads bred pets to be cute, now we have a responsibility to save them? Welcome to Obama's Romneycare America.

$23 a year to save the lives of animals suffering due to humans. Anyone that says no is a piece of shiat. Especially when you look at some of the crap that your taxes are already paying for.

2013-02-06 11:22:25 AM
I would vote for a tax increase if it meant spaying and neutering every cat in sight.

/Or as I like to call them, "bird-murderers."
//Not really, but I'm not a cat fancier. At all.

2013-02-06 11:33:34 AM
Sure. I like cats and dogs.

The feral cats can go, though, they really never take to people anyway.

2013-02-06 11:35:55 AM
Yes... now will the government give me a tax break for the 7 stray cats I had spayed/neutered last year?

Doing it in your garage under cover of darkness doesn't count.

First, they came for the Floridians...

Also, I live in Florida, and some of my fellow Floridians would vote against a tax increase to save their OWN lives.
