If you can't handle your liquor straight, you don't deserve to drink it.

Cptn Morgans spiced and coke zero tastes much better than with regular coke.

Regular dark or light rum tastes much better with normal coke.

There's a delicate balance.

I'll have you know that my root beer and bourbon float tastes awesome with either diet A&W or goose island pure cane sugar root beer.

Lexington bourbon barrel ale with a woodford reserve chaser is also a nice bourbon mix.

Whiskey and green tea. (brewed tea not the sugar water bottled stuff)

Pretty interesting result! It may also help diet conscious people not to "over indulge", as they would probably drink less if every one was 200+ calories.

/always wanted to do an experiment like this for a high school science fair. It's good science, but a "bad" topic - I would like to see what the teachers value most: science or morality.

As a diabetic I don't want to have to shoot up a whole bunch of insulin before I go drinking, so my option are eihter one jack n coke or five jack n diet cokes ...... I mean why waste good insulin?  That stuff is expensive even on insurance.

/seriously though ..... if your diabetic and want a mixed drink you dont have a choice....has to be diet

Cheap Pinot Noir and diet coke makes a pretty good drink over ice.
There, I said it.

I knew my SO had no respect for liquor by the way he used to mix it with as many other forms of liquor as he could before adding a splash of diet coke on top.

Bar tender here. Lately I've had college kids ordering a "252," which is 1.25 oz. Bacardi 151 and 1.25 oz. Wild Turkey 101. Horrible shiat if you ask me but there ya go.

I did that in my amateur days with Natty Ice and Jack Daniels.   I promptly puked and went back to chugging riesling and blackberry arbor mist.

These days I drink bourbon with a hint of ice shards.

Try the scotch. It's neat on the rocks or with water.

I've been known to do a Three Wise Men (did a Four Horsemen once when bartender mixed it wrong) and even I don't think I'd want a "252".  *shudder*

Yup. If you don't like the taste of your iquor then buy a different liquor: there are several tasty bourbons at about $10 a bottle, for example.

Adding ice or water is permissible, though I usually don't.

I hate going to the bar, ordering something on the rocks and then getting like 20 ice cubes and a shots worth of bourbon.

Give me the bourbon with one or two cubes max.

Depends on what you are trying to achieve that night, if you just want to get drunk, by all means. If you want to actually enjoy the drink then you owe it to yourself to go with the regular soda, if not step it up with Mexican Coke or some other cane sugar soda. Besides if you were actually trying to take care of your body, you ought not be drinking at all.

I read fark for the pics

" Cptn Morgans spiced and coke zero tastes much better than with regular coke"

Definitely, the diet cuts the sweetness of the drink.

Still like my vodka and soda, also dig Pappy Van Winkle. Stupid name, great bourbon though.

People who mix their drinks with regular soda are amateurs and are showing their inexperience with heavy drinking.  As someone who no longer regularly binge drinks as I did in my early/mid twenties I have some experience to share with my noob drinking friends.

I have always preferred bourbon and Coke as my drink of choice.  The problem would arise that after drinking quite heavily my stomach would get what is referred to as "gut-rot" and would make me sick and feel like shiat the next day.  Somewhere along the line a more experienced mentor taught me that the problem was not from drinking too much whiskey (there is no such thing) it was that my body was ingesting too much sugar from the regular Coke.

After switching (and having to get used to the taste difference) to Jack and Diet Coke, I was then able to become the true champion drinker I always knew I could be, and was no longer restricted to how much sugar my stomach could process before making me sick.  Many black out sessions ensued and I had many a great time.

Diet soda is crap. People probably just drink it faster to get it over with.

That hypothesis may also explain why cheap liquor gets you drunk quicker than good liquor, as do silly mixed drinks, and beer.

On the other hand, the beverages that you might wish to savor, such as a fine Cognac, Port, sherry, or sipping whiskey, or an apertif, will get you drunk slowly if at all because you will consciously and deliberately go for quality over quantity, leisure and pleasure over efficient inebriation.

Nothing gets you drunk faster than Orange Jesus.
