If anyone had the slightest bit of belief that "Sheriff Joe" does anything at all for any reason other than whoring for attention, well, that should take care of that.

gh0strid3r: Because anyone who's extreme, yet gets results, must be wrong.

Sorry, no. Arpaio, again, is the embodiment of everything wrong with American Law Enforcement. "Extreme" doesn't mean violating the constitutional rights of citizens of the United States in a manner that even the Feds couldn't ignore,

And despite all this, he doesn't get results. Violent crimes are actually up in his county, while trending down in the rest of his state. He's a corrupt, miserable failure of a man.

And he's a criminal.

And let's not forget the fact that he launched an investigation of the President of the United States to try to prove he was a manchurian candidate, without any jurisdiction to do so, using the taxpayer money of Maricopa County to fund it, including lavish trips to Hawaii.

The fact you're defending this man speaks loads about who you are and your beliefs in the freedoms we Americans tend to hold dear, and this is coming from one of the most Pro-Law Enforcement Farkers on this website.

gh0strid3r: Then why care?

Probably because Arpaio is the embodiment of everything wrong with the United States today. He is a figurehead of corruption and abuse of human rights and liberties, and his blaming of the brown people for everything stinks of agitprop.

But yeah, you keep sucking the man's cock there, buddy.

orclover: Has anybody checked Joe for Alzheimer's yet?  Would explain a lot.

They won't even give him a breathalyzer when he totals his car in broad daylight in a supermarket parking lot.

Being drunk on power and booze would also explain a lot.

When asked if he would participate, Jackie Chan responded, "My years of training in legitimate martial arts does NOT make me an expert in 'room clearing,' 'active shooter situations,' and 'room entry tactics.'  While I certainly would qualify to comment on hand-to-hand tactics, being in movies doesn't mean I'm an expert in every single aspect of law enforcement, so it would be ridiculous to think I would be qualified for such a thing."

You guys are silly, of course he is a real deputy sheriff.  He has the self inflated ego of someone who carries a gun and thinks he can kick everyone's head in legally.  Reminds me of most deputy sheriffs I have met.  I think that is why they swore him in.  The fact that he used to do action movies just makes him like a porn star to fellow cops.  In case you don't believe he is a real cop, he got sued for killing the family dog during a raid.  That is a rite of passage for those guys.

He could beat Bruce Lee right now, but if you wake up Bruce and feed him some brains, then Steven would lose.

Jim_Callahan: In all fairness to Mr. Seagal, kickboxing is a perfectly legit sport even if it's not "a real fight", and the dude's a big guy to begin with.  He'd probably still beat your ass for the same reason a professional football player or MMA heavyweight would, even though those things aren't "real fighting" either.

You don't ever want to be in a "real fight", by the way, loads of sharp objects and terrain sabotaging both opponents, and the separation between "walk away unscathed" and "debilitating injury" is more about luck than skill even in a straight fistfight.  There are still bits of skin I haven't recovered from my mandatory time as a stupid kid a couple decades back, and the fact that the only thing I've ever broken was my nose is something of a miracle, and that's without ever really taking it seriously.

I am not aware Seagal having trained or competed in Kickboxing.  I consider many sports, including MMA, Boxing, Kick-boxing, Wrestling, and so on about as close as you can get to "real fighting" within an environment conducive to learning.  I have never been, nor would I ever want to be, in a street fight because those are dangerous, unpredictable, and stupid.  If you find yourself in a street fight you have either screwed up already, or are very unlucky.

That being said, there is plenty of skill in fighting, even in a street fight.  I'd put my money on someone that trained one of the aforementioned sports for a year or two over some giant guy that hasn't trained anything.

/not saying there aren't exceptions.

SO a fat, womanizing dork is saying a fat, womanizing asshole and a major pussy should train our people in martial arts?
Yeah, get back to me when you have a plan.

FullMetalPanda: At which point I guess you'd just run away unless you're already right there in front of them.  Depending on the weapon you have some options.  If it's a semi-auto, you just need to push the slide back enough to render the gun harmless while you start hitting vulnerable parts of the other person's face, neck and torso until you render them incapable of hurting you.  If it's a revolver you're probably screwed because you have to be very fast and precise to strike their wrist precisely on the nerve ending.  It is very painful and they automatically open their fingers possibly causing the gun to fall out of their hand.  Or through a series of slides, pivots and strikes you can get inside their fire zone and redirect their line of fire leaving them open for multiple strikes including kill moves.

Yes this is dog: gh0strid3r: I didn't read the article, but the headline is just begging this question to be asked...

If you were about to go up against Steven Seagal, would it really help you to know what he was going to do? I really think you'd get your ass kicked anyway.

What decade are you living in? Did you borrow the DeLorean from Doc Brown to make that post or something?

Beta Tested: gh0strid3r: If you were about to go up against Steven Seagal, would it really help you to know what he was going to do? I really think you'd get your ass kicked anyway.

On the (very) off chance that you are actually being serious, Seagal is a fraud and Aikido is next to useless in a fight.  Most people would have nothing to worry about.

I already know he's going to do aikido, so I feel pretty safe.

I would LOVE to have ringside seats to see that. Even at his age, knowing not everything he does in the movies is real, and having martial arts and military experience myself, I'm not arrogant enough to think I would stand a chance against him. I find it hilarious that you would think otherwise.

Bringing martial arts to a gun fight only works in the movies.

Is it bad that my first thought was "Well, I guess two out of three 'bangers have good trigger discipline..."?

;)

So... what are the odds of this becoming "Under Siege 3"?

This is the Sheriff who used a tank to knock down a wall while executing a warrant on someone accused of cockfighting. With Steven Seagull sitting on the tank, in the "action" filming his Lawman TV show.

Is anybody really surprised?
