I just did some calculations based on the number of beers I would guess I drink on an average night.  I put down about a 30 pack every 2 days, which equals 180oz. of beer a night.  This is equivalent to about 5.5 liters of beer.  I also drink about a pot of coffee and various other drinks during the day.  I smoke a pack and a half a day and had a really bad coke habit for a while.  When I was 18, I was told that the enamel didn't develop properly on my teeth.  Basically, it meant that I was doomed to repeated dental visits that would require crowns, root canals, and other fun stuff.

Anyway, I still have no god damn clue how your teeth can get that bad, even when you drink that much soda.  I brush once to twice a day and use Listerine.  I am 31 now, and just lost my first non-baby tooth biting down on a god damn concrete Ikea potato chip.  As long as my grill looks good enough for a woman that she welcomes the idea of me burying my face in her meat wallet, my teeth are fine.

Coco LaFemme: some_beer_drinker: ajgeek: Everything's bad for your teeth. Some more than others. But I would say 8 liters/day is a tad overkill...

he is british, so...does it really matter?

He's Australian.  Adelaide isn't in England.  That said, I can't imagine anyone drinking that much soda a day.  Even at my highest level of consumption, I was drinking 4-5 cans of Diet Coke a day.  All that sugar and wonder I was having trouble sleeping.  I couldn't imagine drinking so much my teeth rotted out of my face and I got blood poisoning as a result.

Ummm, you know Diet Coke has no sugar, right?

At that rate of consumption, I would think that the kidney stones the size of grapefruits would probably distract one from the whole rotting teeth thing.

Sugary drinks do not make your teeth rot. If this dolt had ever brushed his teeth to clean off the rampant and overfed bacteria he would've been fine (except obese).

Actually, the carbonation will clean your teeth if you rinse with coke. Then you rinse the sugar off with water. It's better than nothing.

...among other things.

In fact, if you're drinking that much consistently, bad teeth may very well be the least of your problems. Possibly even the least cosmetically challenging.
