Setting: Jail cell in Idaho, near future.

Prisoner #1: What ya in for, buddy?
Prisoner #2: I stole newspaper boxes.
Prisoner #1: buhahahahaha.  You're too stupid even to use as my biatch!

FTFA: Detectives say over the past three weeks 17 coin-operated newspaper boxes have been stolen in Boise and Garden City. Total losses from the thefts exceeded $12,000.

Bull farking sheet.  A liberal estimate of 50 papers per machine each paper being worth a liberal estimate of $1 dollar, accounting for a liberal estimate of weekly emptyings would make 17*50*7 = $5950

Now before you whine that "well they're accounting for the theft of the machines!"  No.  read the first paragraph.

Garden City men were arrested early Tuesday morning after police found them unloading a stolen Idaho Statesman newspaper box from a pickup truck.

Point being there's ~5000 dollars unaccounted for since this has been going on for 3 weeks.  The police are clearly in on the conspiracy to short-change the newspaper industry.

The really amazing thing is that a small bum-fark town in Idaho has 17 newspaper machines. I can't even remember the last time I saw one - or bought a newspaper.

Were they planning on selling the boxes for scrap?  I couldn't imagine one of those boxes yields much more than $100.  What a lot of trouble to go through for some chump change.

That is assuming that each machine was full and every paper was paid for, and each machine sold out before it was stolen. I would bet there was not more than 10 to 15 dollars in any of them, and I'm thinking that they stole a total of 17 boxes over three weeks, not quite one per day. Even at $50.00 each that makes a total of $850.00 or $425.00 for each person, minus gas, these dummies would be better off with a job, at low wages!

That is only 705 dollars to replace each stolen box, sounds about right!

I will tell you now, that's a lot of work for 6g's each.  No wonder they didn't try to escape.  I'm willing to bet that there were thanks and fist bumps when they got busted.

so the next question is how does he know this . . .

No shiat, for all the work they put in stealing those things they could have made a decent amount of money lugging heavy crap for X moving company minus the risk of uh, county jail and future rape

No worries then.  it's just farking Garden City.  Meth trailers and used car dealerships and the occasional ornery old cowboy on just enough land to support a couple horses.

Despite having at first suggested subby was a radical figure, with a diagnalsis like that, it now sounds like you now think he's quite a standard square.
