A few years ago after a Westborough Baptist Church thread, I decided to donate $25 to the Lambada group, a gay rights organization, in Fred Phelps name.

I am now on a gay mailing list. I must get about $50 worth of gay junk mail a year because of that, and I am totally straight. So beware.

/Some friends also put my name and number on a gay dating site
//Jokes on them, I got a blowjob out of it.

Successful troll? I mean, if you make someone so mad that they raise 50 grand to spite you, that's a home run.

There's an app called "PaperKarma" that you can use to get removed from junk mail lists. I've been using it for a while and it seems pretty effective.

Are they overrated? My feeling has always been that they're essentially Heinlein, without the socially regressive aspect and overly strong narrative voice that Heinlein brought to his books. I mean, the Old Men's War universe is basically Starship Troopers, but actually good. Not great. But good.

Great idea and good for the charities and all that, but I don't see how this will do anything to stop the troll. In fact the idiot will probably try and take credit for it.

Another way to handle this... When the offending user logs in, redirect him to a picture of black gay men kissing. He can still use the site, but every so often it shows him more pictures. Or just change the homepage for everyone to look that way, in case he has an alt.

Well, if you really want to lie and make him hit the tip jar, go to his site, post what you just posted in a comment thread and add "McRapey" to it. It takes you more goddamned work for you to talk big than it does to actually do what you talk about, "sport".

"Lie" about it? I read his abysmal "satire," which was as offensive to the children of rape victims as anything i have ever read.

You know what, champ, feel free to post that on his farking hack web site. And tell McRapey to bring his farking shine box next time.

*shrug* If you took all the books and stories that have been inspired by Heinlein to one degree or another out of SF, you'd be missing a significant percentage of it, including almost all of the military SF. Scalzi's books, at least, directly address a lot of the underlying assumptions of Starship Troopers and the like; in fact, I think that his books might be at least a bit more popular if they didn't.

Also, speaking of overrated, WRT the Racist Sexist Etc. in question, it should be noted that he's got his own Wikipedia entry, despite having written books that nobody has read, performed music that no one has listened to, and worked on games that no one has played. But he's a columnist for WND, aka Wing Nut Daily, so I guess that counts as "notable." Oh, and he "designed" a mouse with 18 buttons. No kidding.

I don't really get the Scalzi hate. I liked his books. Not amazing, but Old Man's War in particular was a lot of fun. I would like to be able to write that well.

Heard a lot of good things about Old Man's War. Found a $2 copy at Kudzu Books. Felt ripped off after finishing. Felt the same about the free Redshirts preview. Not my cupa I guess.

Carry on

Lots of times, including the very silly comments that incited his idiocy.

The d-bag decided to double down on them, and now people don't think he is a scumbag. Odd.

To be fair, you seem to believe a lot of ridiculous things that no sane intelligent person believes. If you're ever cognizant enough, consider that.

He's also got a new Old Man's War book that is being serialized and sold one chapter at a time. Part 4 was released this morning.

Apparently, the reason Vox Day is trolling John Scalzi so hard is that he's running for president of the Science Fiction Writers of America, which Scalzi will vacate after 3 years (and which VD has tried to run for in the past). Given his past brilliant insights, I can only imagine VD sincerely believes acting like a bigoted moron will work in his favor.
