Hey Mom and/or Dad- I see an excitable three-year-old standing near the tracks of an oncoming train.  Maybe you could, I don't know, hold her hand?

My son is like this. He loves all sorts of trains. Lucky for him there's a cheap trolley that goes through my city and a train that goes to Chicago as well. Last time we were on it he made friends with some sailors heading back to Great Lakes.

Meh, daddy had her within grabbing distance. He got her to back off using his voice, which is much better in the long run than dragging them away from every possible danger. If you are always dragging them around by the hand, they never learn independence.

Please keep it that way. There are enough entitled, overprotected, bubble wrapped kids in the world.

My two boys are like that too. Once I took them to a Metra station and both an Amtrak and Metra train stopped there at nearly the same time.  They both lost their shiat.

Happy Hours: I'm surprised she wasn't disappointed it wasn't Thomas the Tank Engine

My three year old second cousin got to go on the mini train ride at Balboa Park in San Diego. When it was over, he picked some flowers for Thomas and yelled, "I LOVE YOU THOMAS!"
