Sorry, Eli...nobody wants to name their kid after you anymore than they ever wanted to be Luigi.

The sad reality is that's how I keep in touch with most of my friends now.  Email?  yeah right.  calls and texts are for day of and facebook more for planning it seems now

It's also the preferred way to solidify one's relationship status. I suspect that in the future a formalized ritual will evolve to commemorate the changing of the relationship statuses.

Enough so that im pretty much on the verge of just dumping fark all together. this place has been going downhill for a while now. Article links arent even attempted to be funny anymore. 80% of the time they are just the story headline copied. Now you add in these featured partner crap and it feels more like someone is trying to force crap down my throat than it is me actually trying to enjoy internet humor and a few interesting stories.

Also, one of the contestants in the Jeopardy teen tournament is named Tori Amos. Mrs. robertus commented that her parents must have been big fans of Tori Amos. We spent the rest of the night feeling very old, because Tori Amos has been around long enough that there could be a teenager named after her.

I have a Facebook page. There's nothing on it, I'm not using my real name, I don't remember the password, the verification questions I created are all nonsense answers and Facebook won't let me reset any of it.

Somehow they still know people who know me.

I think GMail sold me out.

Gmail didn't. Your friends who have your address in their Gmail address book, and then uploaded the entire contents of said address book to Facebook just to see if their friends were also using it, sold you (and everyone else) out.

Which is one of the fallacies of privacy now days. I cannot protect my information without living in a cave in the hills. I don't know who has what information, and no one knows who is doing what with it.

Dufus: Is there a down side to not being able to get a Facebook page?

None of my family lives near each other, so it's how we keep up.  If we had to rely on phone calls, emails, or letters, we just wouldn't be as up to date with everyone.  Same for old college friends.  I'm sure in generations past I would have just lost touch with everyone; I can keep up with all my old friends.

It is silly to use it to talk to people you see in person all the time, though.

I don't click on them. Let the 'featured partner$' wa$ste their ca$h.

What happened to the tried-and-true method of "just not clicking on links that aren't interesting" (which is what I do with about 80% of the headlines I see, and will continue to do with these "featured partner" headlines, at least until one looks interesting to me)?

Naming your kid after a hero is one thing.  But, it's a risky move, especially if the 'hero' is young and will have decades to fark up.  One of my high school buds (white and geeky, mind you) was named Orenthal James.  Let's just say, he was always 'Jack' after 1994.  Probably better to choose a dead and still respectable hero.

I wouldn't mind them if there was  thread with them. I would think the advertisers would want something like that. It would essentially be like having a free focus group.
