(Gizmodo)   Why Iran's new stealth fighter jet will never get off the ground. "The air intakes are extremely small whereas the engine section lacks any kind of nozzle, engine afterburners could melt the entire jet"   (gizmodo.com) divider line 225

Being clearly made out of fiberglass and having a VNE of 260kts are are good indicators.

Shhhh! Don't say anything, let them find out on their own

I liked the comment in TFA about how Americans can't believe this is a REAL jet plane. Because, as I am sure we all know, you can build the cockpit of a tactical jet exactly the same way you build the hull of a Boston Whaler.

I don't know, those Whalers are pretty tough:

It looks almost like one of those homebuilt kit planes.

wow, that's just embarrassingly fake.

IgG4: I don't know, those Whalers are pretty tough:

Back when I was 13 had a friend across the Magothy River whose dad reinforced the transom of a 13 foot whaler with a big piece of steel and then put a Merc 50 on it. And then let two 13 year old boys run around the river in it. One evening when the river was unusually calm, almost glass, we stopped and tilted that outboard to its max, got down on the hull and hooked our legs under the board-seats, and took off... a Donzi also racing down the river clocked us at 50mph+ in a 13 foot whaler. So little of it was in the water that it was rolling nearly gunwale to gunwale even in that calm.

And as for that joke monstrosity the Iranians showed, yeah obviously a mockup and a bad one at first and all subsequent glances. Would be real tempting if I was a pilot in whatever CAG is deployed to the Gulf to troll up and down the coast daring them on the radio to send out their super stealth fighter for playtime.

some are claiming the original Iranian broadcast said the flight was a RC model and this is a mockup. That being said I doubt a full size version would fly and the pilots helmet would have a RCS that would be detected

Are we going to send Clint Eastwood over there to steal it?

That's what happens when you base your design on another bird that isn't so great at flying.

They need to make a video of it flying around the world and carrying out a missile attack on NYC while 'We are the World' is playing in the background.

That's exactly what I saw too.

Well, it might get off the ground...and then get back to it as a field of half-melted globs.

Its' unlikely that an engine is even installed on that thing.

I think that about sums it up.

#1  It's made out of spare parts and fiberglass, just look at the cockpit

#2 It's way too small compared to any modern jet fighter, with a pilot in it for scale it looks like a damn toy

#3 It's obviously fake as fark even to the average person

I cannot believe that so many people are saying that it is fake.  We have pictures of it.  It is real.  And I have to say, that I am very impressed with the plane.  That is a very nice looking 1:1 scale model airplane.  It will look really farking awesome hanging over President Ahmadinejad's bed!

This is a really good point. I cannot explain it. But that statement defines most things from the Iranian government.

The Iranian intellectual must be truly embarrassed for their country.

Why are the instructions in English?

A large part of the Iranian air force is still made up of US made jets (F-4,F-5,F-14) makes sense their techs would still be use to English on their planes.

Because it's used as an international language in aviation.
