The incident halted the performance for about 45 minutes before it resumed. Still, the audience missed out on the last few minutes of the show because of a union-mandated break for the 81-member orchestra.

THE SHOW MUST GO..... no, no, wait, mandatory union break.

Or because management refused to let the orchestra go into time-and-a-half meal penalty for those last few minutes.

Wonderful video of a picture showing him with flame...not on his face, but holding it. and great explanations of what happened. Absolutely worth not clicking.

Dude. Careful with the fuel when you have the flame in your hands.

FTFA:  The mishap occurred about 30 minutes prior to the end of the five-and-a-half-hour performance.

Five and a half hours? Maybe the dude just couldn't take any more and wanted to get the hell out of the theater.

I'll be going to see Die Meistersinger on Friday.  Glad they 86'ed the fire-breathing stilt-walker.  Adding 45 minutes to an opera that's already over five hours long is just cruel.  Besides, why the hell is there a fire-breathing stilt-walker in Die Meistersinger anyway?  It's not like the action takes place in the middle of Carnival (that's La Gioconda).

The last scene does. It's the Johannestag celebrations.

Came in to say "I submitted this with a better headline", because I actually did...but that would have been so much better than my comparably pathetic efforts, that I'm not even gonna try.

Well at least he's secured a role as Loge from Die Walküre.
