Maybe they'll use the bagel bites song in the commercials.

2013-02-05 08:28:18 AM
They used to have a deep dish pizza series called the Priazza or Priazzo or something like that.

I wish they'd bring that back instead of this crap.

When I was a kid, I used to love the Geno's Pizza Snack Tray. 15 little 1 inch pizzas in cheese, pepperoni, and sausage. They've since disappeared off the face of the earth. I know they probably really tasted like cardboard, but I'd pay $100 for a box of them today.

Amen.

I remember a girl I went to HS with had them for her "Sweet 16" birthday party, so it would have been 1984.  I'm not talking 2013 version of sweet 16, I'm talking about the rec hall of a local church in a coal mining town.

Anyway, they had a shiat ton of those things, and they were glorious.

A decent snack would be heaven.

I'm assuming the "slider" part refers to the "happy-splashy-fun-sliding" BM afterwards?

I worked at Pizza Hut in 1987 and made a lot of Priazzos. They were a thin crust in a deep dish filled with a few pounds of the Bil-jac that Puzza Hut passed off as sausage with another thin crust on top and cheese drowning the whole mess.

They were wonderful.
I still remember the slightly sweet sauce, and fine diced pepperoni.

Anyone who thinks bagel bites are the original pizza slider is sadly mistaken.

Hamburger bun half + ragu + kraft parmesan powder. Put in toaster and you got poor mans pizza from my childhood.

I always wondered what a "slider" was.  It all makes sense now.

Bah. Luxury. We had to make do with a slice of stale bread, ketchup and Scott Lad Parmelike Cheese.
But those were the days.

Bring back the Red Baron mini pan pizzas....those were the bomb.  Yeah, guilty pleasure, but they went off the market years ago and are apparently only available to Schwann's customers.  Grr.

LOL. For some reason my friends and I found the ads for "priazzos" really hilarious at the time. They had minimal piano-violin music with slo-mo shots of pizza dough flying around, with a vaguely European voice-over saying, "It's not a pizza." We thought that was a rare instance of truth in advertising, and "It's not a pizza" became a catch-phrase for a while.

For us it was bread slices or flour tortillas, Contadina tomato paste and shredded cheddar. For some reason I loved to put Worcestershire sauce on mine. It was a taste revelation when Newman's Own marinara sauce became available.

back in high school and for a while after, i'd make a slightly fancier thin-crust version using a flour tortilla, pizza sauce, canned diced tomatoes that already had italian seasoning, and the kraft parmesan powder

People who don't eat the crust just lost half their value.

/ Value of a pizza saturated with partially hydrogenated cottonseed oil still up for debate.
