Lee Atwater nods, adds it to the list.

Please tell me someone has images of the Teabaggers trying to spell "Ethnically Challenged" on signs.

Wouldn't ethnically challenged mean people lacking an ethnicity?  Someone incredibly, even awkwardly white?

Done in one.

Seriously, WTF?

Oh, and it's 'Americans for Prosperity' again.  Joy.

Would "ethnically challenged" mean a mono-culture?  I grew up in a very wasp town so I wasn't exposed to other ethnicities so was I  ethnically challenged?

Tea Party 101 - engage brain before mouth.

I like how the lib media sites are eating this up but no one has asked him directly what he meant by it. Rather they froth at the mouth about it.

That was day 3-7 of the seminar.

The training was billed as a workshop for regular folks to learn "the best tools and techniques in investigative journalism, social media, and opposition research.

I love how the Cock brothers are using poor people to labor for free against their own interests. It would be even better if they charged a nominal fee for the workshop.

Kids aren't going to charter schools if they're "A" students. They go to charter schools because they're failing students and, by and large, the charter schools have a higher percentage of poor families, ethnically challenged families...

Isn' that pretty much the opposite of the normal conservative propaganda about charter schools? Was this guy actually coming out in favor of public schools?

what is wrong with you? Simply defending this guy based on the fact the "libs" are eating it up is so dumb. Why do people like you never seem to find blame in a statement like this? Why is your answer defensive instead of rational or critical of the speaker, who either misspoke or is a moron?

Can you point to a situation in the last 2 years where a Republican has said ANYTHING that didn't require a "what I really meant was" clarification?

Call it 'merely unfortunate phrasing' if you're feeling charitable toward this guy, but -- how does it not lay bare what's in his ugly shriveled little soul?

Or just irredeemably, unrecoverably American with no ties to any old country or foreign culture, perhaps?

Like, so rootless that if you asked where their family is from, they'd name their hometown in rural Kansas or something.

Confused the hell outa me. We're looking at sending Gumby Jr. to a charter school as our public schools are a downward spiral of fail.

Oh, and when did conservatives start complaining about the ethnic makeup of charter and private schools? Don't they want their schools to make the playoffs?

It's the lesson we all learned from The Blind Side. Old rich white folks want 40 Lakers and a School.

2013-02-05 08:00:39 AM
Lots of the money against public schools in Michigan is coming from Betsy DeVos, mega-rich sister of mercenary Erik Prince.  There are major links between their family and other right-wing fascists whose goals include complete destruction of American's public school system.

2013-02-05 08:07:07 AM
I didn't think they could top the "faith based initiatives" scam/cash grab, but they found a way with charter schools.

That's kind of what I was thinking as well. I'm the first member of my family born in the US, and when people come over for dinner and hear the cute little sing-song Nordic accent, they always ask where my Mom and Grandma are from. When I would say "Norway", I would frequently get "Oh, I'm Norwegian, too!" usually followed by something like "and Dutch and German and Native American and Spanish and....". An entire laundry list of various places their distant ancestors hailed from originally. No, dude. You're the typical Heinz 57 American. Nothing wrong with that, so embrace it.

/I was an anchor baby, but I'm white and my family is from a wealthy country, so I guess they'd be cool with me
//if I wasn't so irredeemably centrist, leaning toward liberal now, just because people like the teatards frighten me terribly

Well, just as an exercise in inderpretation....

You could say that by "ethnically challenged families" he means families facing challenges pertaining to ethnicity, such as racial discrimination or culturally biased testing or whatever. This would be consistent with categorizing them alongside "poor" families, in that he's talking about families which suffer socioeconomic disadvantages.

I would call these Teatards mentally challenged at this point, but unfortunately they're to intellectually lazy to rise to any challenge.  Descend to one, absolutely, but never rise to it.

Well, to be fair, the "thing" to do this year was to double-down.  If you said something stupid the common tactic was to come up with a follow-up that was so inflammatory or stupid that it just blew both comments right out of the water.
