I like the idea of "kindnapping." Like somebody grabs you up, takes you to Vegas, and plies you with cheap whores and expensive liquor for a couple of days before releasing you at your local airport.

Obviously we need to consider that possibility.  Playing video games does make you emulate the characters in the game.  For example, when I was young, I used to play Asteroids a lot, and I grew up to be a triangle.

No seriously, they should have just legislated the kid free! If they toss enough laws at the loony he would have realized the error in his ways and gave up! It is what's going to protect us after this crazy "gun culture" we got finally goes the way of the dodo right? Laws are like bulletproof vests, the more you have the more bullet proof you are!

Let me guess...

You're digging a hole for a bunker in your back yard?

I don't care what any medical professional claims:  a 5 year old boy has no business being diagnosed with ANY of the above conditions.  Our entire mental health system needs to be torn apart and restructured.

Idk... The news did say all the other kids scrambled to the back of the bus. One was to left, to busy slapping himself in the head.

remus: Wayne 985: Tangent:

Am I alone in thinking this Asperger's/ADHD thing is probably BS? I know they exist, but the kid is five and those are two of the most over-diagnosed illnesses in our society. I have this image in my head of helicopter parents with a perfectly healthy, if excitable, child.

Umm, Parent of a an Aspy here...   It's both REAL and VERY noticeable at an early age in some children.  They rarely want to actually hang a formal diagnosis at that age, however, so I'm not sure how these parents got one out of a licensed psychiatrist.  My son was showing the symptoms clearly as early as 2 years of age.  By five, he was very challenging to care for; my wife has never had a job as she's taken care of him his whole life.  He's 18 now and started college this semester.  Doing very well.  It's a long road with lots of ups and downs.

I have no doubt that some kids are over diagnosed, but make no mistake, it IS real and CAN be seen this early.  It is very, very difficult to parent a child like this.   It's also rewarding, but you have to have a lot of patience.  On the first day of this hostage crisis I was discussing it with my wife as we wondered how the nut job was going to handle a Aspy in a tiny container underground, especially since he was an old man without kids around.

I'm guessing the knife, it's pretty hard to get a car down a PVC tube to your bunker.

Even the Alabamans? Alabamians? Alabamites? Abbalamans? hicks that live in the right part of the state would never know what Appalachian American meant. They'd think you were talking about uppity Tenneseeans? Teenyseeums? Tenness-C-uns? yankees.

I asked my better half yesterday why this story wasn't all over the news 24/7 since day 1.

She said it wasn't about the kid - its about the villian. "It'll be plastered all over the news when the media can report about the bad guy."

It really wasn't a big news story when this innocent child was held hostage for 6 days. Now its suddenly much more important. Hmmmm.

That poor kid is going to have a heaping dose of Stockholm Syndrome to work through. That is a hell of a thing to lay on a little kid with Aspergers and ADHD.

It's kinda funny how people who spend so much time preparing for a violent last stand with the government seem so unorganized when it actually goes down. (hmm funny, not ha ha funny)
