dittybopper: Well, lift the ban on hunting, and I'll do my best to help.

I hope the bear wins.

Such majestic animals - (ignoring the terminator-killing-machine habit, of course).
I saw one rip into a minivan like a fat kid with a Happy Meal. That Inuit reggae band in it didn't stand a chance.

You know, i always found it amusing that we humans always saw when a species was becoming dangerously overpopulated in it's native area, and in so doing would endanger the environment with their increased numbers upsetting the delicate balance of the ecosystem, and feel the need to control it in various ways, most usually in forced contraception and culling.

Except where humans are concerned.

"My humble plan was to become a hero of the environmental movement," Unger told NPR. "I was going to go up to the Canadian Arctic, I was going to write this mournful elegy for the polar bears, at which point I'd be hailed as the next coming of John Muir and borne aloft on the shoulders of my environmental compatriots."

That word...

This is great news because I just came across a great-looking recipe for polar bear tar-tare that I've been dying to try.

Grand_Moff_Joseph: Sure, populations are holding steady in some areas, but overall, that trend is not sustainable.  More and more mothers are having single cub litters (when 2-3 used to be the norm), and the lack of food and ice has shot cub mortality rates through the roof.  Top that off with later and thinner ice formations, and 50+ mile swims to find solid ice to hunt from, and the populations will soon take a nose dive.

Do you need a license to predict the future?
Or can just anyone play?

Wayne 985: The Daily Caller? Anyone want to sift through the derp? Because I'm not clicking.

They compare the number of polar bears alive today with the number of that were alive when they were being exterminated by hunters. They don't consider what the polar bear's numbers would be without human influence or in what direction the population is trending.

Remember, we're talking about people that would pee in the pool and say it's clean because it was worse that time they took a dump in the water.

Which population of humans would you like to cull and sterilize first?
