My wife and I were inbound on Storrow on Sunday morning, and we saw a clear bus-shaped mark on that overpass.

Clearly buses aren't the problem. Buses don't kill people, poor inner-city youths with buses kill people. Or injure them in this case.

Didnt RTFS did ya? Busses are already banned on that road. Its a bus free zone. And of course that's where this tragedy happened. In yet another "safe zone" full of easy bridges.

The only actual answer that will solve the problem is to allow busses everywhere. On roads with low ceilings, inside churches, at the skate park. Etc. Sure at first there maqy be a few problems but after 10 or 11 busses plow into a bridge at 90 MPH it'll come down and can be replaced with something bus proof. And once everything is bus proof we'll be safe.

Is it just me or did the picture of the cop extracting the kid make him or her look headless?

There is no reason why in this day and age that one group of pepole should be held above others or even forced to be below another group.
Everyone should have the same chances and be on level ground.

Awesome headline Subby.  This was big news over here in the Boston area.  Driver is a negligent idiot and should face charges.  There a lot of height limit roads in Boston, but they are all EXTREMELY CLEARLY MARKED and the driver should have known the height of the vehicle.  Yet this shiat happens all the time around here.  Morons.

Our town has a couple railroad overpasses that are routinely hit by trucks.  One of them is hit often enough that I read about it on Fark.

For extra Fark points, there is a strip mall just before our overpass, and the economic downturn has turned it into an empty parking lot.  So, anyone approaching the overpass has like half a football field to turn around---or park, because they're delivering cars to the dealership right on the other side.

Anyway, that's all academic because our mayor is a liberal Democrat, so when a truck hits the overpass our local newspaper forums are filled with herp-de-derp blaming the liberal anti-business mayor for not lowering the underpass to accommodate trucks.  It is tremendous fun to ask these people why we must baby-proof the whole county because a few people can't read signs, rather than relying on market forces to give us people who can drive a truck.

There are not numerous only signs, but they're mounted on chains at the height of the bridges, so if you hit the sign and hear it jangling along the roof of your bus or truck or whatever, you KNOW that whole "maximum height" thing meant you, yes, you. The highway department has done everything sort of having a guy out there with a tape measure checking vehicle heights. And out-of-town drivers get stuck under those bridges (particularly on Storrow Drive) on a regular basis.

Frankly, I think anyone who jams a commercial vehicle under one of those bridges should have his CDL pulled for gross stupidity.
