nytmare: How do they get around the problem of fill-dirt making for a poor foundation? First earthquake comes along, the ground liquifies, the entire city is swallowed.
Carousel Beast: Don't they have enough empty cities already?
brandent: What could possibly go wrong?
FullMetalPanda: Carousel Beast: Don't they have enough empty cities already? They won't be empty for long when they unlease their millions of horny men to rape and pillage the world so they will have a harem for each man.
Bendal: So yeah, future earthquakes are really going to be a problem.
Nayest: Not reading. Fark China.
Bendal: nytmare: How do they get around the problem of fill-dirt making for a poor foundation? First earthquake comes along, the ground liquifies, the entire city is swallowed. If it's compacted properly, and they totally fill in the valleys so the ground has nowhere to go, then it's not a problem. Of course, this being China, where no one pays attention to regulations of any kind, I expect the compaction of the embankment is nowhere close to the 95% rate we'd call for, no subsurface drainage installed to keep streams or springs from eroding the embankments from the bottom, and no way to channel what little water falls on the surface. So yeah, future earthquakes are really going to be a problem./civil engineer//once had a project that moved 23 million cubic yards///not in China
