Vegan Meat Popsicle: LesserEvil: Again, if you can't see the difference, perhaps you need to re-evaluate your own priorities and general competence in experiencing life.

Said the guy who came into the thread to whine like a little biatch about somebody in an unknown part of the world not following U.S. laws that themselves vary from state to state on the assumption that the unseen person in the video was on a cellphone and not talking to a passenger when she was struck through no fault of her own by a car that nobody could see until it was 10 feet from impact.

But by all means, you keep judging everyone else's "competency in experiencing life".

LesserEvil: Galloping Galoshes: LesserEvil: Maybe she should spend less time yapping on her cell phone in "the cell phone lane" and more time paying attention to the road and driving properly.

Oh, really.  I was looking down the road to watch traffic, not trying to see through a screen to oncoming traffic.  All she could have done is to swerve right and take the impact on the driver's door, which would have killed her (anyway?).  No time to react, no good options.

She could have been in the proper lane, and the car wouldn't have hit her.

Instead, she opted for the fast lane, so she could hog it and drone endlessly into her cell phone without having to 'worry' about anybody ahead of her.

So, if she HAD NOT been on the cell phone she would have been in the proper lane.  How would that have changed anything?  Would you have swerved with your Superman reflexes?

...which makes me wonder: when you say "lesser", lesser than what exactly?

The point you seem not to be grasping - and several folks have already taken a swing at explaining this - is that, whether or not she was driving in the most perfectly courteous way, her driving had precisely nothing to the do with the disaster that followed. If anything, driving five mph faster would've made the situation worse, if only by a very small degree. Do you get this? One does not relate to the other.

LesserEvil: Point one is the main thing. Follow the common "rule of the road" and in this instance, the probably has a story to tell her husband when she gets home, instead of being in the hospital. Chances are, somebody else gets the car in the face, but she might have avoided it.

And then you would have come into this thread biatching about how THAT person had it coming.

Face it: Sometimes bad things happen that are absolutely no fault of the victim's.

yeah because that would have prevented a car from FLYING over the shrubbery in the center median and smashing into her vehicle. yes I have read all you comments and the rebuttals by the rest of the people here and I agree with them. There is nothing she was doing wrong if she was using a hands free phone which it sounds like she was since you can hear both sides of the discussion. She wasn't driving erratically... nobody was passing her and flipping her off for her driving skills. as a matter of fact it seems to me she was driving the same speed as the car in front of her in the same lane.

Why don't you go back to trolling the politics tab?

Damn, I thought this was Fark, com, not the "oversensitive whiners who like to drive slow in the left lane forums".

I'm an aggressive driver as well, but I think I speak for almost everyone when I say: dude, just shut the fark up, you god damned asshole

Genju: Wow. I've been angry about slow drivers in  the passing lane, but that didn't mean I felt they deserved a CAR to land on them!

Yes you did.  And it's ok....we all feel that way sometimes.  My particular peeve are the people that sprint up to the very end of a lane that ends before cutting over and causing everyone behind them to stop.  Something with an explosion would be more than justified in those cases.

Gee, my I didn't realize posting words to an internet forum would cause people to completely freak out.

Feel free to ignore me, if your life has been so negatively impacted by reading my posts.

As for the charge of being an asshole, I don't drive in the left lane on cruise control. I stay out of people's way. I don't yank out in front of people, and I keep cell calls to a minimum, finding a place to pull over if it is important or hanging up if it's not. I pay attention to the roads, and I extend every courtesy to other drivers that I expect in return.... but I don't ram people off the road, or tailgate them if they can't be bothered.

I guess that's too radical for you safe drivers, and it's a sin to criticize anybody who is in an accident.

Good luck out there, and as I posted before, please don't let your rage influence you on the road.

Nobody is freaking out.  Everyone just thinks you're a douchebag who likes to complain about things that aren't worth complaining over and who makes shiat up when his initial complaints are mocked.  Acceptable if you're an old lady who lives in Florida, but for anyone else what you're posting is just douchey.

Considering she did none of the things you mention here yeah it's wrong of you to criticize her for some one else flying through the farking air into the front of her car. Don't be a dick and you won't get called out for being a dick. It's that simple.

zerkalo: Your move, Russia

Russia has posted worse.  A few months ago I saw a dashcam of a car following a truck that was hauling bricks down the highway.  One of the bricks fell off the back and came right through the passenger side windshield.  The wailing and moaning that followed was the worst thing I've ever heard in my life.

Is the left lane rule in effect in Russia or do they drive on the opposite side?

MagSeven: Is the left lane rule in effect in Russia or do they drive on the opposite side?

Nah from all the dash cam videos I know they drive on the right side of the road. And use all the rest of the road when drunk or passing.

LesserEvil: Maybe she should spend less time yapping on her cell phone in "the cell phone lane" and more time paying attention to the road and driving properly.

So a car flew into her but hit her only because she was driving improperly? That's the most idiotic thing I've read on Fark in weeks...and that's really saying something.

2013-02-04 10:01:24 PM
OMG. I'm not sure what's worse, not knowing what happened, or finding out she died and knowing that those were definitely her last moments alive, posted on the internet for all to see.

I realize the kneejerk brigade and derp is strong in this thread, piling on to my simple criticism of the driver, but please read everything I wrote, at the very least, before posting:

LesserEvil: I didn't say it was her fault. I said if she had been driving correctly, she'd not have gotten hit. Only a moran would say that somebody driving in the southbound lane was responsible for a car launching into the air from the northbound lane. Then again, only a moran would somehow get that out of what I wrote.

I do actually feel bad for the victims. We have no idea what caused the car to launch into the air across the median. We have no idea if this is a snuff video (honestly, that makes me particularly uncomfortable, and without a link to the original source, perhaps the mods would have been wiser not to greenlight this). I merely criticized her driving style, and I was promptly attacked for being a cad, to question people who like to drive slow in the fast lane (perhaps by a bunch of people who like to drive slow in the fast lane?).

I would also like to add that, given that this is Fark, I suggest that anybody who comes here should be prepared for snark. If you are easily offended by anybody expressing an opinion, this might not be the best place for you to be, My rant about "The Cell Phone Lane" was more about taking advantage of the situation in the video to express one of my pet peeves on the road, which is people using the passing lane as a distracted driving lane.... again, some Farkers here seem to take great offense at this, because? I guess they approve of distracted driving and hogging the fast lanes (it was a divided road, not a common-access road, therefore, it had 'fast/passing lanes')

I'd just like people to be more courteous. For that, I am attacked and called names, and somehow, just mentioning that if she'd been driving courteously, she might have not been in that lane, and been out of harms way, suddenly translates to "ZOMG! SHE'S TO BLAME!!" Seriously... WTF is wrong with you people?

At any rate, good night all. If somebody has a link to the source, please do post it.

You might be right. Had she been doing what is correct instead of what is common or trendy, she might have avoided the accident. Then again, had you spelled words correctly (doing what is right instead of what is common or trendy) you might have avoided looking like a complete douchebag. Might have been a mistake, of course, since you always follow common sense rules. Moron.

Let that be a warning to you kids out there.  Never drive in the left lane unless you are passing or you might just get hit by a car flipping over the meridian into your lane of traffic.  Now if you are in the left lane and passing then you will never get hit by a car flipping over the meridian into your lane of traffic.

Yeah because we all know nothing bad ever happens if you follow the rules right? It doesn't matter to LE that she was following traffic safely it was still her at fault for being in the wrong lane while talking on her phone. She wasn't tailgating the car in front of her or going way slower. she was keeping up with the leading car as near as I could tell and leaving what most people would consider a very safe distance.

Not as a counterpoint, but I have avoided an accident by traveling in the left lane with 10 over the limit.  Flint I69 where on ramp dumping traffic coming from I75 and miller rd, for those that know that infamous spot marked by accident scars, I was travelling 80 in the left lane due to the traffic competing to pass each other before they even have lanes to work with.  Many drivers are too stupid to realize the on ramp starts a new third lane and push to go left immediately causing many accidents into the center divider.  A full size pick up shot past a car on a wet day and spun out when reached I69 nearly missing my rear bumper by inches.  The wife watched it happen in mirror, I looked back at the sideways sitting truck and shrugged.  Being in the right spot at the right time can save a life, but by chance in the wrong spot......

It is sad when accident causing drivers collect innocent drivers.
